Alas, chatting up in the finest of cocktail bars is a thing of the past. It's a place where I go to reminisce and look back with sensual fondness on how things used to be. Many a clandestine encounter or a romantic tryst was established on the back of woo'ing a woman at a bar or across the floor as she was seated on a vintage leather banquette.

I agree, pulling on a night out is a dying art. Loved socialising in pubs and clubs in my teens and twenties. Chatting to everyone, flirty looks across the room, bumping into your new winch while waiting at the bar.
My kids don’t get to experience any of that now. Everyone is face down in their phones.
Everything being prearranged on a dating app……theres no spontaneity or excitement. |

I definitely have noticed it is a dying art, but the last time I was out in Glasgow I was chatted up by a younger guy and we had a lovely evening 🤣🤣so maybe I have just been going to the wrong pubs |

Always managed to pull no bother on nights out .. like everything else .. failure means you learn .. if you don't have a go you'll never know lol .. just wish (usually younger) women didn't immediately put a barrier up that you have to fight to break down first. |

As someone who was out most/every weekend in there late teens, 20’s and most of 30’s, occasionally in my 40’s - NEVER had a vanilla one night stand, and NEVER had a guy chat me up/offer drink etc!
As a super confident, social butterfly had plenty guy friends try to explain to me why..! Fab does wonders for my confidence that bars don’t! |

I think it's a minefield for the younger generation with chatting people up on a night out . Too many snowflakes who are far too quick to take harmless flirting the wrong way .In turn they miss out on the pleasure of seeing someone they like and going for it .Its much easier done through their socials and apps . Sadly is a very different world they live in. |
