Curious to know if there are any avid runners on , whats your main drive for doing so obviously fitness smartarses lol but ....

for me its for my sobriety and mental health , not a crazy lover of running but I know exactly what it does for me and never felt worse after any runs.

I like to run 3 days a week if possible.

I do it for a few things, mental and physical health really. You get a great high after doing a run.

Only really started back at the turn of the year, 5km at first and up to 10km now. I might consider a half marathon but it's a lot of training.

Yeah I did the 10km, I've done a few official runs this year to keep me on track.

Brilliant, set myself a few goals this year too and the glasgow half wrapped up all of them ... stuff my face for a bit then back to it lol

NE and Central Belt

I started running to strengthen my legs to save me from joints wearing out in later life.

I haven't run in a few years (and a few stone). Need to get back to it as I definitely feel the lack of overall fitness.

Was training for a half Marathon before COVID hit and just lost all motivation, which I've still to find.

I did the couch to 5 programme in first lock down and definitely felt the benefits. Have started and stopped a few times since the but need to get back into it. Not a great time to get back into running as it gets colder and darker. I definitely prefer a morning run to nights but might need to be the treadmill to get me started back.

What's everyone's thoughts on best time to run and treadmill versus outdoors?

Outdoors crack of dawn before you've even had a chance to think about anything else , set it out night before and just get up and go .. after work etc is a slog but sometimes they are good runs aswell because you've dragged yourself round the run.
