If I put a thread then I will say it a fun thread Then we all know it fair game for a laff And if other do the same it may stop some of them getting wasted guys  |

I understood him first time, but my other halfs mind works the same way so i'm used to it.
I think it might be ok to use tags in the titles, but it wont stop it if it starts going into banter.
Banter happens for a few reasons.
1. people need to blow off steam, the forums aren't separate little conversations all going on themselves, it's part of a big conversation that the user is having with the group as a whole.
2. The post is making people uncomfortable, someone then tries to lighten up the thread to save someones blushes/lighten the mood/gently but humorously enlighten the person that they have made people uncomfortable.
3. The post has become boring, or the function of the post has been fulfilled. Yes people may wish to comment on the original content of the post when they come online later, but then at least the banter has kept the thread active enough for people to see it. If not it probably would have died a death.
I could go on but my brain is showing again Oooh look! shiny things!  
Did i have a conclusion? Oh, yes, try the title word thing and see what happens. Be careful though of what you mark serious, if it bans banter, then the thread might just die before anyone gets to see it. |
