Plans submitted to Edinburgh council for a 8,500 capacity arena in Edinburgh Park. Will be interesting to see if comes to anything and some larger acts decide to play Edinburgh over Glasgow. Or both. |

Great news, perfect location and good size. Hydro is always booked out with many top artists unable to get dates - this should smgive artists and the public so much more choice in central Scotland.
I'd have liked it slightly bigger bit then even the hydro has top deck tapered off the majority of the time. I'm sure 8-9k will be fine.
Hopefully it goes ahead. |

"Has the Playhouse shut" since favouring theatre, it’s booked up years in advance. Very difficult for touring acts to slot in a show there.
This new gig tho. Can’t see it happening, personally. Money will change hands and grants will be given out then it will go over budget and sadly not come to fruition. The demand isn’t there in Edinburgh. There’s an odd mentality with Reekie gig goers that they’ll go to Glasgow and moan that the band in question hasn’t come to Edinburgh. Then they announce a date in Edinburgh and it’s quiet and doesn’t sell out. Happens all the time. Has done for years. Seen it even with Swinger socials. We ran a few years ago. Same scenario. We had one in Lothian Road once and no one from Edinburgh was at it! Germany, Australia, Fife, Glasgow etc but no one local. R |
