Are those of us who are on fab and vanilla dating sites looking for the same thing?
For me, I would happily date someone I met in fab. But you don’t start with conversation. The opposite is also true, I would happily swing with someone I met on tinder, but you don’t start with conversation…

I was on PoF and Badoo before Fab. Then you discover most of Fab are on those as well.
I was looking for different things from dating sites but they ended up just looking for no strings fun anyway and I was looking to date.
As it happens I have found someone on Fab that I’m dating. It can happen when you least expect it. |

Having been on conventional dating sites and never actually swiping to actually match with anyone, I would probably consider dating if it was a naughty relationship where this side of it was open. Therefore would probably be better just sticking to here as most are in the other sites anyway. Having had a bad experience earlier on tonight with the way a man on here spoke to me though, I just don’t know if it would happen. He was a bellend though and I hope in the minority of men who think women on here deserve no respect because we are on here. |

I look for different things from fab and dating sites.
I have friends on fab who have found partners on here when they weren’t actually looking for one whereas I’m on dating sites and can’t actually find a partner
If I found a partner on fab I wouldn’t necessarily want to live a fab lifestyle with them initially I would want to concentrate on the relationship side first. |

This is an answer that would split the two sexes (yes I know there are 675 genders but for easiness let me off this time).
I’d say the majority of men are trying to get the leg over regardless if it’s fab or an online Tipping Point fangroup. I say majority, because it is.
Women will mostly separate the two. I’ve seen women on fab posting for a ONS in the updates but will have the “No ONS” line in their dating profile. It’s not contradictory, it’s two different places that offer two different purposes |

I’m currently on both fab and dating sites.
I don’t actively look for someone to date on fab but I wouldn’t rule that out either.
My criteria are different for meeting someone on a vanilla site though to date that search hasn’t gone well……..so I intend to come off that site soon.
It seems that if I stop looking that’s when they might appear! |

There are apps and sites for polyamory and swinging people to date but quite honestly I haven’t found them very useful.
I’m also on “normal” dating apps a friend asked if I was honest about the bisexuality and the swinging/polyamory which I am, still very hard to meet people.
It’s a tricky situation to be in where I would like to date, but I also wouldn’t want to stop swinging, I like my freedom and independence and I’m very much not nor ever have been the jealous type.
But it would be nice to meet someone who is into swinging but also happy to go on “proper” dates. Is that the kinda thing you’re looking for OP?
As long as everyone is upfront and honest and doesn’t mess anyone about it’s all good.

I can't really say anything. When I met my partner I was confused as to what I wanted as I'd just been out of a 7yr relationship. Met her on here as we'd been chatting on and off for some time 6 yrs later we're happily married and in an open marriage. She's still on here although we dont play together |

I’m sure if you looked at the most popular dating sites, the same people would be on the majority of them and on Fab. Sometimes the algorithms throw up people you already know.
I gave up with the dating sites. I’d never have matched with the guy I’m seeing now so it’s often better to meet in person at a social or an event rather than rely on apps and hope the photo isn’t out of date.
Profiles aren’t always the best advert for anyone.

Going by personal experience there's a fair few women on regular dating sites who are into non-vanilla stuff but aren't broadcasting it as they'd get chucked off the site and/or inundated with cock pics - if there's a connection folk usually come out of their shell after a few dates
I've noticed a fair amount of people on the regular dating sites that are also on here, you don't need to be Sherlock Holmes to work it out
I've certainly had a lot more attention on pof and match than I have on here, that's for sure

I am on vanilla dating sites and I would say I can be very kinky.
But I wouldn't put that on my vanilla profile as it attracts the wrong type of men in my experience.
For some reason they assume it means I am submissive which is the opposite.

Yes I would agree with that. Inundated with cock pics is the least of it! On a vanilla site if a woman were to be completely honest from the start it also has the potential to attract less safe types who think that if you are swinging/poly that basically means you’re up for anything with anyone!

Been on a normal dating site after a traumatic time in my life. I was always honest with all my meets to what I wanted until I meet a woman who just seemed to tick all the right boxes. But as time has gone by she isn’t the woman I thought she is. I came on Fab via a recommendation from a friend as think I just want to meet as many women and couples as possible, but I have more success on regular dating site. |
