I was recently contacted by a couple who wished to meet with me. After chatting, we organised a day & time to meet at my home.
On the day of the meeting (prior to being due to meet that evening), we were chatting some more, when all of a sudden they cancelled on me. The reason (excuse) they gave was that I lived too far away. This was despite them already knowing where I lived and the fact that they had previously stated that I was "very handy" as I was only 3 miles away!
After probing a bit more, they finally admitted that they cancelled because I had mentioned that I don't drink!
Has any non drinkers out there had people refusing to meet with them because they don't drink? It's a first for me! |

I have not had a drink since Saturday, im boring too, haha, though cannot say it would bother me if someone is T total. I go out for social drinks with my friends. But its an occasional thing. Prefer my coffee. |

I rarely drink because of work - maybe have a beer once in a blue moon but its a new one on me lol. I'm the same, don't need a drink to get me in the mood or for Dutch courage but I guess everyone's different. Don't let it get you down and move on ![](/icons/s/biggrin.gif) |

Well it's great to hear that I'm not the only non drinker on here and that we're not seen by everyone as being lepers! lol
It shouldn't be seen as some sort of stigma and I tend to agree that it says more about those who use that as a reason not to meet someone, rather than the non drinkers themselves.
Anyway, here's to more sober fun in the future!! Thanks everyone. |

i dont drink but i often tend to think that folk who do,then find out you dont drink assume you dont drink coz you have a problem with drink ,i used too enjoy a pint but about 20 yrs ago i gave it a miss as i no longer enjoyed the atmosphere in pubs ,i dont miss drink but i do miss social side sometimes ,but these days its just a pub lunch with a soft drink i avoid pubs in the evenings, just not for me ,prefer a decent meal in a comfortable and safe environment maybe its just an age thing with me who can say |

I'm not a drinker either. Happy to be the driver on a night out. Larry, being ex forces, enjoys a good skin full.
Not had anyone mention that I don't drink. I'm happy and will play/not play as I see fit. I don't need a drink to help me along ![](/icons/s/biggrin.gif) |

Personally I like a wee drink on occasion but often I'm called upon to drive to a meet, therefore, whether a drinker or not I can't have a drink. So that would mean not getting to meet!
It really is a sad indictment on our society where having fun is purely fueled by alcohol. What about when we were kids & had a great time. No alcohol back then. |

Never been a problem. Don't touch the stuff I'm daft enough without it.
I've worked Glasgows doors too long and seen what it does to have no real time for it.
My vice is coffee I drink too much of the stuff and I need to cut it down.
I have met folks in pubs etc for a meet and had an odd look when I order Cranberry juice or Coke but its never stopped the fun.
If you need a glass or two of vino to get you in the mood then fine, however I'm not too enamoured with d*unk people coming onto me like I said had enough of that at the pub door on a Saturday night |

"I'd be more than worried at meeting someone who's had too much alcohol than someone who doesn't drink at all ,don't change for anyone if it suits you not to drink then don't .
Have fun xxx "
Absolutely Miss D. You'd think that would be the logic people would follow. |
