Edinburgh (She/Her)

There is a huge resource online in basic rope tying, via YouTube, tictok etc. Knotty boys and other content creators are everywhere.

Duchy have a very well laid out site which gives detailed images and videos. Its free for newbie and You can subscribe to higher levels when you arecready to move forward.

There are also events and peer workshop groups that hold regular events across Central Scotland also. As jigsaw has said above, these events are listed on another Web page more suitable to bdsm. FAB do not allow its members to promote other webpages.

However the site in question very recognisable... the logo it a heart with horns and has "life" in the title..

Safety is paramount as rope tying is extremely dangerous if done incorrectly. So ensure you have at minimum safety shears available close at hand.

As they say, rope can always be bought, but nerve damage is irreparable!!

The Voluptas event is a suspension demo which - while it'll be amazing, the folk doing the actual demo are fantastic - is advanced stuff and I don't think there's going to be much teaching per se.

As has been observed, there's a lot of decent online resources (some better than others) but it's by far better to learn in person in possible. As Amelia has noted, the Other Place is better in terms of sourcing peer groups, workshops and classes. Also the place to shout out for private tuition if of interest - there are great ropesters who do so locally but mostly by word of mouth referrals or enquiries rather than proactively advertised.

Me and my friend have just booked in for an August shibari course on every Tuesday in Edinburgh . It looks like it's going to be good !

Those are specifically self-tying and self-suspension classes. While the fundamentals are similar it's a different skillset to partnered tying (and from a purist point of view not technically shibari, but a lot of fun regardless!)
