first time social nerves !

Evening folks,going to the valentine social,and its my first! and i'm in a flap,will be driving there and home so no dutch courage!,how did you get over 'it' if you like? |

You will be fine just think of it as a big nite out with friends lol everyone so friendly and will welcome you we were all new once to socials ...relax n have fun xxxx  |

I always think like that too, would love to go along but if youre not in the gang would feel a bit random! Then what if you dont fancy anyone? Or what if you see someone you know and they ask who youre out with?
Best plan would be get pissed! lol x |

The first social I went to was a girls night out, so obviously I went alone. I was so so nervous, I didn't know anyone before hand. Fortunately I wasn't driving so I had a wee drink to calm the nerves.
I think if you act confident, even if you don't feel it, then you will come across as confident. Don't sit in the corner alone, make an effort to get involved in conversation, intrroduce yourself to everyone and smile! generally people will respond positively.

First one I went to I just stoated in, found the folk & took a seat. I got chatting to 2 couples, just had a blether really. Everyone has a first time, there might be other social virgins there too that you can chat with. All in all, like has been said, its very relaxed & you won't be left sitting alone, someone will chat to you. Just be friendly & you'll have a good night. |

Chill, no big deal, jusy gp with the flow and enjoy meeting folks in a social way.
I most likely will not make it, despite having paid for a place and a hotel room.
Shame as I was looking forward to it.

you will be fine with a very lovely host like miss dynomite she will make you feel very welcome as she did with us on our first social

Bee here xx you'll love it some of the best nights out i have been on where social parties on fab and miss them as been a long time since i last went to one. Half the thrill and excitement are the nerves beforehand. I still turn into a nervous wreck before a night out wether its social, private party or going to the club. Hold your head up and smile then no one will suspect your shitting yourself, works for me every time till i open my mouth and start blethering rubbish lol |

Very true though wouldnt say gang but there is cliques at socials and not all fit in,been to loads and have spoke to and seen loads leave as a result of this .
Sometimes best to meet others before hand so as to not feeling like the spare part .
Some are great nights some are not its all trial and error .Enjoy  |
