"What would you say is the most accessible album for new listener?"
For his early piano years I’d suggest The Heart of Saturday Night is a nice introduction and for his later more challenging stuff I’d say Swordfishtrombones and Mule Variations are quite accessible.
I reckon he’s a bit marmite for most people. |

Thanks for that.i love Neil young,Leonard Cohen and Dylan so I usually like original voices but I've never found a way in to him .People I know who I think have good musical taste( and some who don't right enough)always say I should listen to him. Thanks again il try that |

From Closing Time right through to Bad As Me.
In fact, I'm just going to play "Martha" now.
In fact I am not going to bed NOW, until I have played the whole "Closing Time" album.
The Closing Time lp is a cool half-century old this year. Been listening to it for 45 of those. |

I went through a period of listening to him. I find I need to be in the right mood to listen to his stuff although, Table Top Joe will always be a belter!
His section in The Ballad of Buster Scruggs was also brilliant to see.
