Just wondering if anyone knows of any speed dating events that are coming up in the West of Scotland at all? I've been Single for far too long and need to find ways to meet people as I don't get an opportunity in my free time or work and I'm not on Tinder or Bumble any more. Not getting any luck on this site either and I'm thinking I need to make some big changes and put myself out my comfort zone if I want to meet someone ... or does this all sound a bit desperate!! |

Honestly I think the best way to meet people is in person. Like going to a club with a few friends, chat to lots of people and wear a low cut push up bra so the boys line up
So whatever the guy equivalent of that is I would go for that. Wear a nice suit. Suits are
Good luck! |

I co-host the Aberdeen social meet up group and we have regular feedback from single men how much they enjoy the meet ups and how friendly and approachable everyone is. Maybe get yourself along to one of your local social events and meet like minded people for chat and possibly more.
I’ve never been to a speed dating event but I also know people who have and have enjoyed them very much. Good luck in your quest x |

My days of going to a club are long gone lol plus my mates are all married with kids. Even just trying to get out for a drink these days involves permission slips and weeks of negotiations haha! |

I've been to a couple of speed dating events in Edinburgh.
I have to be honest, they were awful, however you don't know until you try!
Google is your friend. A company called design my night often have them. I'm sure they would likely do one near you |

Before lockdown I tried one in the Slug and Lettuce in Glasgow. I actually quite enjoyed it but didn’t meet anyone afterwards but was a fun way to spend an evening and would consider another one.
I googled them recently and they are back on just the dates didn’t suit me
Good luck if you get to one |

I don't think what you are saying comes across as being or sounding desperate. I've no idea about speed dating but I can definitely relate to having no real opportunity to meet people due to work or free time. Never been on Tinder or bumble though I have been on other sites to no avail. A bit rubbish really! |

Where do we sign up?!!
The Aberdeen socials are a cracking laugh OP, but there are Glasgow and Edinburgh ones too. Just keep an eye on events and regular threads here in the forum.
Online dating is hard now, there’s so much research on how male profiles just don’t get the visibility, paid subscription or not. With the first photo swipe system It seems if you haven’t got a mad fancy car, a cute dog or abs then you’re kinda fucked.
Whilst I don’t think fab is the right place for dating personally, but do get along to socials man. You will have a right good laugh |

Im sure the slug and lettuce do speed dating nights, can't comment on them tho because I've never been, but heard it can be a pretty poor turnout but I think it would be a laugh if anything. Make sure you go with a mate that way if it's awful least you have someone to laugh about it with ha. |

Went to one recently with a bunch of girls in the west end. Can’t for the life of me remember the name of the place.
But the woman totally outnumbered the men as half of them didn’t turn up.
Bonus was that there was a buffet |

I’m also single and had moved to the area, so I didn’t have a friends network. I started going to socials and to CJ’s and AD. I’ve now got friends that I regularly see and go to both CJ’s and AD with these people. It’s worked a treat for me x |

Bumble has started doing an online speed dating event where they match you up with people in your area/requirements etc and you chat for 3 minutes and then they show you a photo and you decide if you like or not.
I have done it twice. First one was horrendous and I could only imagine what it would have been like in person. Second time was a bit better and I had a few nice chats and matches, but nothing really came of it.
Never been to one in “real life” x |
