Came across this on another site - and the concept is great.
Worried about your safety on a meet?
SafecallUK are piloting in Edinburgh with knowledge/content of the local police.
Concept is simple.
Say you are on a "first meet" an would like the assurance that someone is - in confidence - watching after you.
Well you pre-register with SafecallUK and give them your details (just the minimum - not your life history - and an agreed "safe phrase" etc
They then call you in confidence, and ask you if everything is OK. If you feel insecure/vulnerable at the time of the call, you can give them the "safe phrase" and they will summon the Police to your location.
If your meet is genuine, they will understand why you need to take the call etc.
SafecallUK is inspired by the American National Safecall Network which does the call back as follows:
Set a time for your first call (15 minutes into meeting)
Set a time for a check in call (1 hour into meeting)
Set a third call for (2 hours into meeting)
Call one last time when safely in your vehicle and on the way home
You can also have your Safe Call Volunteer call you during the meeting, if you fail to answer they will call police
I think this is a great concept - anything that can be done to improve safety on meets has got to be a good thing.
With so many wierdos and predators- not only here but elsewhere - you cant be too careful. |

Yeah I know guys - thats why its a PILOT and has its origins in the US BDSM scene that came up with a BDSM service.
I know fabland is cynical etc but don't knock it.
As for the cops turning up when your "in action", false alarms might well happen. But better that than anyone genuinely in distress.
Yes we may all have friends etc with whom we can contact that know where we are etc but would they be able to come running/driving to your rescue if they themselves were on a meet, over the drink drive limit, other end of the country etc.
I know fabland is cynical etc but I humbly ask that this be viewed as an information thread. |

There's an app on your phone if you have smart phone or Iphone called B Safe . You allocate guardians (friends ,family, trusted ones ) if there's a problem you hit the alarm on phone and it sends them a text and calls the main guardian saying youre in trouble to come get you , along with your exact location ...can also set up the fake call scheme on it if for example you go to bathroom and feel you're jot happy with meet or at risk of danger etc you can set up a call to come through in a few mins from unknown number which allows you to excuse yourself and have to leave . xx |

And just to clarify - SafecallUK is NOT a commercial site - it is a network of volunteers. And it is free.
If the concept takes off in the UK, th ultimate aim is that SafecallUK itself and their volunteers will be vetted and registered with DBS/Disclosure Scotland. |

This is swinging not MI5. The odds of getting attacked are probably a lot less than going out on a Sat night. If yr that scared of being in danger I strongly suggest you give up meeting people for casual sex. Its hard enough to get meets without having to arrange Big Brother. Meet in a public place before retiring for naughties. |
