Most receptionists won’t even notice if you’re taking someone upstairs. I’ve found Premier Inn and Travelodges without receptionists are more likely to be card entry for doors and lifts.
I wouldn’t stress too much about receptionists and choose a nice hotel. |

I'm a hotel night manager and can tell you that we don't even bat an eyelid if you enter quietly, say hello and go upstairs. If it's a rendezvous, know the actual name of the person you are visiting if you are asking for directions... If you don't know and have to consult your phone, you've failed and will be refused entry (this happened a lot in a city centre hotel).
Ideally, enter together, don't draw attention to yourself and we won't notice or care.
Btw, walls might be soundproof but the doors aren't and turning the TV up doesn't fool anyone |
