Lanarkshire

So I fancy a wee day out to myself tomorrow. Up earlyish and disappear for the day.

Any suggestions on a decent drive.

Glasgow

The drive up the left side of Loch Lomond and on to Glen Coe is stunning but will likely be chocka .

The drive upto Banchory is great as well and lots of decent wee places to eat.

Up through Callander also good if decent weather .

Have fun

Glasgow

Depends on how long you are willing to drive...

2 hours plus? The drive to Fort William is stunning, whether it's dry and sunny or rainy and cloudly. Plus there's a lot of shops and food places to keep you busy.

The drive from Glasgow to Stirling (less than an hour) is also a scenic route, and me personally I just enjoy the centre of Stirling.

Scotlands your oyster, is just depends how long and far you're willing to drive

Lanarkshire

Head up the M80 to Stirling.

Take the A84 through Doune and Callander. Enjoy the delights of Loch Lubnaig as you whizz on passing Strathyre and Lochearnhead.

Revel in the the views of the old railway line as you motor up Glen Ogle to Lix Toll. Take the right turn (A 827) for Killin. You can stop and have a wee gander at the Falls of Dochart there. Continue through Killin.

On the A827 about two miles along Loch Tay (just after Milton Morenish) take a left on the wee road up and over past the Lawers Dam. You will probably want to stop at Lawers Dam for the superb views. Return to car and motor on down to Bridge of Balgie and the quiet joys of Glen Lyon. You might wish to stop at Fortingall to see the ancient Yew. Then take the Duneaves Road to Loch Tay and along to Kenmore. Nice lunch stop.

Now for the crazy bit. After Kenmore you need to take the hairpin bend hill road at Croft na Caber and up over the spectacular top (you have to stop at the top for the extensive views). Then on along the wonder that is Glen Quaich on the Rob Roy Way. Join the Sma' Glen road at Amulree and continue on the A822 until Crieff (nice afternoon coffee stop).

Continue along the A822 (great stop at the spectacular Roman Camps at Braco for a 10 minute leg stretch). Rejoin the A9 South at Greenloaning and then it is M9 and M80 back.

Home for tea.
