Hubby and I will be there.
And I'm hoping for more of the weather we had last year (my dodgy tan line photo).
I'm a bit disappointed with this years line up, but I know I'll enjoy it anyway x |

Can't make it this year due to family wedding, but line up is disappointing as I am not a Metallica fan....and seen Slipknot so often at Download I could do their set lol. Last year was a cracker with the great weather though |

2 Metallica headline gigs is pushing it. But we recon we will head to the village on Thursday night instead...

We’ll also be in quiet camping, can’t wait. |

First time in 5 years for my friends and I, and yeah the lineup isn't the greatest but I'm going to make the most of probably our last download; the prices compared to other festivals are getting out of hand |

As with all things in life, it will be what you make it.
So if it is your last, I hope it's a good one x |

They’re doing some revamping to the village apparently. With some sets on throughout the evening. |

I'll be in the campervan site, most likely too d*unk to see any bands...
Absolutely pointless even going then. "
Going to a festival isn't just about the music... |

It’s a lot of money to just get d*unk in a field |

We’re going - this is my 5th DL plus 2 MOR in the 90s - bored of people saying the line ups weak though! We’re normal camping - quiet was overbooked last year and tight as a ducks arse - be good to have a fab section in camping just for chats and giggles - probably be too filthy for much fun |

"I’m going..quiet camping. Not been in 10yrs so giving it a go again. Hope the weather is good!
"
Take good earplugs. We went quiet last year and were under the flight path for planes taking off. And there was a fair few with about 20 mins between then from 2am-ish.
I work nights, so had mine with me. They were a godsend
Clearly didn't bother us that much cos we've went quiet again this year. And the weather was brilliant last year, so hoping for the same again x |

I'm sure others will be better informed, but you can find site maps on Google.
Not sure if to scale but will give indication.
Re traffic, will always be busy so set off in good time.
There is info from last years again on the Web.
Hopefully all will be good, but we will all be in the same boat ?
WE will all enjoy once there ???? |

"Anyone have an idea about the walking distance from the carpark to quiet camping? And are the traffic queues and queues to get in massive? We've not been before."
If quiet camping is in the same place as last year, then it depends where you get parked. We were about a 15 min walk. The queue wasn't bad when we got there either, but I think that'll just be down to luck x |

If, and it’s a big if, the layout is the same, then quiet is about 15 minutes walk from the entrance, but the entrance is about 10 mins walk from the car park if there’s no queues.
Queues on Wednesday will take a while to clear, both traffic and getting into site. But once the car parks open the traffic moves ok, similar with the queue to get in.
People tend to turn up a fair few hours before anything is supposed to open, which is what causes most of the queues |

Don't a lot of people pay a lot of money to get d*unk by a pool?
Different strokes... |

If you're taking a lot of gear with you; tents, clothes, booze, food etc you'd be wise to invest in a trolley of some sort.
I've not camped in regular for a few years now but the trek used to be hellacious when you're carrying 30-40kg of stuff on your back. |

Sack trolley for the win… DO NOT get anything with small flimsy wheels |

"Anyone doing the posh shower toilet thing??"
We've paid, just hope we don't have to wait in line ages. Back up plan of fresh body wipes off Amazon & taking bikini & swim shorts for a cold water bottle & shower gel outside the tent |

"So, with 3.5 weeks to go, who is everyone most looking forward to seeing?"
Lorna Shore, GWAR, Ingested, Undeath, Perturbator, Clutch, Municipal Waste, Ghost, and Behemoth will be my must see bands. Everyone else will probably take a back seat to me boozing in a field |

I'm no paying 70 squid for an hour queue to get a shower. That said if yer clever you'll shower in the quiet times, 3,4 in the afternoon I recon would the be the best shout.. that or really early before the crush... cold water shower meh. But taking a gas stove so luke warm is a possible shout.. |

Yeah, I am going solo in the Melbourne Hall campsite this year. (Still a bit pissed this isn't the RIP it was initially advertised as, but hey-ho, time to make the most of it...)
Anyone wants to say hi, send me a message in advance - mobile signal is usually so bad down there it's pointless waiting |

We did last year and used them twice. So this year I'm happy saving the money and slumming it. Wipes, maybe some dry soap and dry shampoo will be my friends this year x |

"Every year I say I'm going 25 years later still not went"
Honestly with the price increase this year, it's going to be the last for my friend group. We can do arctangent and bloodstock for nearly the same price as a single download ticket.
Include the massively cheaper campervan tickets and it's a no brainer. |

Can highly recommend Arctangent. Been the last twice it’s been held and they have both been outstanding. 5k capacity. Great layout and always a great line up of bands, never had bad clashes |

"Gutted about FFDP. Need a decent replacement. Heard Skindred and BFMV as possibilities....
Hoping for Skindred!!!
They always put on a good show "
I have yet to see them live however I do love their music. I've seen so many people slate them for potentially stepping in which makes me doubt would they be good live. |

"Honestly with the price increase this year, it's going to be the last for my friend group."
It's definitely never cheap, by any means, but considering there is an entire extra day this year I didn't find the prices an egregious rise at all.
I have also just jumped from "Rock Retreat at Melbourne Hall" into Sleepy Hollow, so I am selling my spare Melbourne Hall fancy-camping ticket if anyone is interested |

Not long to go now and we still don't know... Skindred would put on a good show and BFMV would be pretty exciting to bring in at this stage. Anything to look forward to on Wed night? Staying in Yellow if anyone else is? |

"4 downloads on the trot, will 2024 be the skindred festival? "
Didn’t Black Stone Cherry do 6 out of 8 one time?
Can’t be helped if it’s a last minute replacement… better than just having an empty slot |

Would have preferred to bump every band underneath up a slot and bring in another band to open the stage but heyho |

For anyone interested there is a social organised for the Wednesday evening, details below:
we are going to go for 7pm by the side splitter stage and information kiosk. Group up there and then about 7:15 head through district x towards the dog house stage and the bar. Then what happens with the rest of the night is anyone’s guess!
This is on its own thread also if you look for “download festival village social” if you want to see who is attending and let others know you’d will be |
