If you are looking to catch an old trout mate, you are in the right place.

Hm

That’s why there’s more than a few different forum topics because as well as swinging people on here can have shared interests eg the motorbike forum !!

Not been fishing for years but I’d be asking what your travel

Arrangements are so you drive etc have to rely on public transport are you looking for places within so many miles etc or are you totally flexible, looking for places you can also camp/bnb/hotel etc are you looking to flat water/rivers/offshore

Are you already a member of any of the angling pages/groups on fb have you been to the angling centre in Glasgow pretty sure they have a hub with loads of info

Good advice above from no shrinking violet

Is it just bait or do you do fly or sea fishing also.

I’m sure there’s plenty of others with similar interests.

I do fly fishing if that helps.

I am fly fish only.

I have been known to try and lure the odd beauty to have a snuffle around my flies. And I love the opporchancity to bend my rod into an old trout up a quiet narrow tributary, wide bay or slack channel. The feeling of a fine catch quivering on the end of your rod, drawing your filament tighter is quite life-affirming.

would be public transport id be reliant on when came to travelling but would love have a wee weekend away doing some fishing be that a hotel or tent most likely hotel just for hygiene purposes, and just recently joined a few fb pages as the urge is there just to grab the rod and jump out I've only ever fished the water of leith and couple wee places in borders tbh not really much to catch there had a few but. I've not been to the angling centre as yet but genuinely thanks for all the info and reply here appreciated pal

Can I be honest I'm not sure what type fishing I do I imagine its classed as fly fishing few weights on the line and hook and bait genuinely not an experienced fisherman only recently got the hang of actually setting up a rod myself. Can I ask what bait do you fish off pal ?

Ragworms are allegedly good for most fish. I’m not an angler by any means but i watch a couple of good fishing channels on YouTube - Smash Fishing in Guernsey is fab, loads of info there, suggest you watch it, it’s coming up to Green Ormer (Abelone) season

There is a good place if you can get up Aberfoyle it's the 3 lochs drive it's a nice drive or can walk it you can fish 3 diff lochs but you have to pay to put your tent up all brown trout lochs also have pike in them if your going for the trout u cam use worm and maggots also some of the fake baits work as well but if you like to try pike fishing get your self some wire traces with hooks also some deadbait like sprats or a pike pack thats got a mix of diff fish also get bait elastic so when you cast your bait don't come flying off you can also use spinners and plugs up there as well give me a message if you like and I can chat more about it

No anything other than something that doesn't include CJs or socials. Definitely no politics.

Why does it concern you so? If you don't like the topic scroll past.

Better still head to swingers advice forum and spread your knowledge there to guys who can't get meets. That should keep you busy for a while and distract you from threads you don't like here

Ah that sounds like bait fishing but it’s great that you are embracing new hobbies and open to learning

Fly fishing is mimicking the fly (food of the fish) to entice it - there’s an art in the cast and in learning the fly patterns.

Well worth learning - _hrobberman also used great analogies too

I love partaking in fishing but cannot stand watching someone fish even on YouTube however I will say I'd did learn me how to set up a rod and cast only been fishing 4 years or 8 years or so now but it's still all new if that makes sense hence this thread thought ask around some people bound have some knowledge genuinely thank yous all for true knowledge and also locations and bait that has been suggested may have not replied individually to everyone but trust me all was read and us being researched. Man's earned a weekend away thanks people of fab

South Fife

Not sure where you live but I fish the Union canal from Winchburgh to Linlithgow for roach.... I tend to steer clear of maggots there as it attracts too many small perch, I stick to sweetcorn and bread flake, they're are also like in there and it's I am targeting larger Perch I use worm to keep the tiddlers away....I also fish Eliburn reservoir in Livingston, it has a good variety of Fish but mainly carp. You buy a day ticket when the guy comes round.
