Just wondered what the general opinion was on calling women on here “Miss” or ladies what do you think when someone calls you miss?
I read something ages ago about “dating” and messaging and someone saying when they are called Miss in a message it just makes them think of jail as that’s what inmates call the female guards. I can’t see past it now. Not that I’m saying all men who say Miss have been in Barlinie or whatever lol but it just makes me feel icky now.
It’s probably better than some things we can get called right enough |

It's marginally better than constantly being called babe by someone who's never spoken to me before |

"Does Miss trump Hen then?
I really dislike being called “hen” makes me feel like I’m being spoken to as a child.
I can imagine Quine having a similar effect"
I had to look it up I don’t think I’d appreciate being called that either to be honest |

I hear it a lot from the lorry drivers up here dealing with our receptionist. I guess it means queen but still I’m iffy on it |

I use the term “Miss” quite a lot, but - as NSV mentions above - that is because I very much lean sub.
For my own part, it’s an attempt to be respectful (without being presumptuous and calling a woman “Mistress”, when you both haven’t even chatted yet!), though I also appreciate why some people wouldn’t like to be called it. |

"I tend to use sweetheart alot .. not being presumptious it's just my mannerism.. im respectful to all females .. after all manners cost nothing .. xx "
Sweetheart could be deemed a tad patronising and over familiar |

Miss could be something that many guys use as it's a term they used at school for a long time and they may not have dropped the habit. Although typing it could have something to do with being sub.
I detest the term doll, it's just bloody creepy. |

As I'm not Scottish every time someone calls me hen I think of chickens
I'm fine with most miss, babe, Hun ect after all I don't think it's meant in a bad way
Lass xx"
How about Lassie? One of my neighbors uses it incessantly, and I'm not sure everyone appreciates it... |

They aren’t trying to be nasty 99% of the time , they just think with their penis and forget not everyone likes to be called derogatory names |

I’m sure they don’t mean anything derogatory from calling me or anyone else miss. I just don’t see the need for things like miss, sweetheart etc etc when first messaging someone. Miss just gives me the ick and missy is the same lol |

I generally say "Hello there" and try to rememeber a name
HOWEVER
I went into a chemist and asked "two packets of condoms please Miss"
The assistant replied "DONT MISS ME"
So i said OK make it 3 packets |

I must be missing something here (pun unavoidable). When did the use of "Miss" go from being a polite or affectionate form of address to something "Icky", bordering on derogatory, or an instant reason to block someone? Hypocorisms, such as babe, hun, sweetheart, coming from a stranger on an adult website, I get, as they can come across as patronising or over-familiar, as stated above but Miss? Seriously? Anyone offended by a "Miss" will be getting ma'am'ed by me from now on for acting like a proper little madam. |

Really don't like being called miss.
Mrs is even worse, can't believe some guys actually put that in their messages!
If you know my name, use it and if you don't call me sexy. It's not hard. |

Would Miss Sexy get extra points?
I work with a lot of women that refer to each other as missus when chatting to each other or addressing them on FB. I think it sounds horrible. |
