I know quite a few nurses. They work really hard, do difficult shifts, and deserve every penny they're paid ...and more!

Genuinely don't understand how they keep going in every day, it has to be a job of vocation, they're absolutely amazing, remember being in A&E getting stitches in my head, kept apologising for being in wasting their time, they couldn't have been nicer, mind you, I had my own cubicle for a while.lol

Are you sure she's your wife and not your carer mate?

the land of unicorns and fairytales

Know a lot of nurses and they’re wild

On a night out, sadly these days I’ve mixed feelings about nursing staff whilst many are very good and work their asses off sadly there’s many more these days with the attitude they’re hard done by and forget what patient care is ! The ones in the most stressful positions AE, coronary care, ICU HDU etc are worked to the bone and never stop and the ones in general wards seem to be on constant breaks on their phones and ignoring patients calls to go

To the toilet etc and then wonder why patients are shitting themselves and being sick all over their beds or falling on the wards trying to get themselves to the toilets when they aren’t fit to do so themselves !! And then their open wounds are being infected because they’re lying in their mess for hours !!

Maybe they need more help, better holidays and a decent wage.

Used to be a copper so met alot of nurses. Especially as they had similar shifts.

They'll be the first to admit that the NHS is a huge organisation in which there's more than a few wasters and feckless sorts. But the majority do a job that I couldn't. The good ones always seemed to get the shit end of the stick, like they never got the holiday seasons off because the shuft manager knew that the occassional shit one would just call in sick.

I was once stationed at Crawley in Sussex where staff were abused and assaulted so often, that we had a unit permanently in A&E, at the weekends. I remember one animal turned up very d*unk, created a riot in the waiting room and verbally abused everyone within earshot. He was refused treatment so went outside , dragged a nurse who was taking a break into a dark area and beat her badly. Few hours later and after being processed in custody, we had to take him back to the same staff to treat his original injuries. I couldn't have treated him. Fucker even tried to claim innocence , later in court.

They see alot so tend to develop a robust humour and outlook on life. One time, i turned up to find them laughing about a young guy being back again. I thought this strange until one 'accidentally' shifted his sheet whilst he was lying on his side, on a bed. Remember the old telephones with the long spiral cables? He had the handset one sticking out of his arse! She explained that he had repeatedly 'fallen' on things which ended up there

Worked in the Police up here and it was a regular thing to get the Promos for "Blue Light Nights" in the clubs midweek. We also heard that Nurses were wild on their nights out. Never found out for myself.

Eh up, watch what you say, the rozzers are on the forum. Be careful on Face Pic Friday, its just an identity parade to these guys (and one or two of you on here are definitely dodgy). Still at least we know everything they say on the forum is true!

I play it totally vanilla at work with nursing staff. Stuff that they talk about I could easily out trump some of them with my experiences, but have to bite my tongue given my status and profession

I do remember going to a party in the nurses home when a JHO. We walked in an found a bunch of guys stoned out their faces, it was a psych ward nurses party and most of them are male nurses LOL

Have to testify that the quiet ones are the kinkiest though! LOL

Given your status & profession? You do realise that comes across as that you think you are better than the nurses?

Innocent

They have their moments. It’s always fun when you got the threat of “calm down or were calling th cops” so we could reply “your ok, we’re already here”

I work in healthcare . Nurses deserve respect as they have to deal with all sorts and under any pressure and staff shortages and some patients aren’t nice to nurses.

I feel you may have had a bad experience, which is such ashame. Not all nurses on the general wards are like this. People tend to forget just how understaffed we are, in ICU etc where its generally a nurse to patient ratio of 1:1 or 1:2, the patient care i agree is better. Yet on the general wards its recently been 1:10 even 12 working 12hour shifts and this is having an affect on the care we are able to provide against the care we want to provide. There are some nurses out there that are lazy as hell, rude, uncaring and shouldn't be in the profession, but the majority I know and work with are not like that. Really hope your opinion will be changed one day. X

Only had 1 bad experience where a nurse was involved. We were assisting the Psychiatric ward staff with a violent patient they needed to sedate. Somehow, after giving the injection, the nurse managed to miss the needle bin and rake it down the inside of my forearm.

Blood+needle+drugs+Unknown medical risk = A&E visit for tests.

Even her colleagues couldn’t believe she did it.
