"How much is it what's changed "
Much brighter, a new play room to be built (ongoing), stocks and a cross added. £12.50 entry plus either £2.50 day membership or £30 annual membership. |

Great to hear its open, a great mile stone in setting up a new club, well done for your efforts.
For the rest of the peeps on this thread, I guess you have an interest in attending, so lets keep it positive and support those who are making the effort to keep a safe venue local.
Great effort guys, keep it up! |

The website is barely there, very little information is forthcoming and it all seems like amateur hour, not a proper club at all.
A change of club name, a lick of paint and change of profile name is all very well, but what's the point in pretending to be a new owner if you're just going to do everything completely half-assed as usual? Nothing has been learned in the past 2 years, obviously.

"Can anyone advise if there is any good pubs within walking distance? Up for an over night and likely nip in but if not for us then ideally be a locally bar we can go to instead "
It's very close to the centre so plenty to choose from, a 5 min walk to the Barrelman which I've heard good things about |

"Thanks I so want something for this area . Just wish people would see positive Not negative "
If you want people to see positives then you need to give positives. At the moment all you have is a crap website and none or little information posted so people know what's going on.
Compare yourself to CJs, AfterDark or any of the clubs in England and do you really think yours stands up against them? Be honest with yourself. You're not even in the same league. You told me you knew what you were doing, I have yet to see evidence of that and you're 2 years down the line.
I'm sorry if that sounds harsh, but I think a wake up call is needed here. If you want to succeed then you need to put the effort in. |

Great 1st visit to Bacchus. I arrived early, and was given the tour. The place has had a lovely face lift, its brighter, fresher and cleaner. Some new rooms under construction, but thoughtfully done so as not to appear as a building site. Some new equipment too for the more "kinky" visitors.
The new owner is full of ideas for further improvements, and with the evidence of ongoing construction and the improvement to date, I'm confident he will deliver.
A really good crowd turned up for the 1st 'swingers night', all lovely friendly people. Everyone seemed to have a really good time, whether that was chilling listening to music in comfortable surroundings, chatting, having a laugh, and of course some sexy fun.
Great night folks, keep up the good work, and I look forward to seeing you all on my next visit. |

"Any word, yet, of daytime Swingers sessions? "
I did discuss this with the owner.
Although it has been previously mentioned on some of the threads in the forum, there weren't enough comments (on subject) nor commitments for him to identify the best day. He is keen to have daytime swinger days, and he is open to suggestions for the best day and time. I'd suggest if interested set up a dedicated thread so that he can gauge interest and identify the best day and times |

It is confirmed there is a new owner. I have met him and discussed the frustrations being voiced on Fab. The priority for the new owner is to try and keep a venue available. So business set up has been done on the hop, which may have led the perception of lack of organisation.
The website takes time to set up, and everyone has been working round the clock to do the best they can.
There have been many challenges, as well as legacy issues from the previous business to resolve.
With licencing, building issues, face-lift, new construction, I think its amazing they have a clean, bright, safe and friendly environment up and running in the time that they have had.
The new owner is clearly committed to having the best club in Northern Scotland. With support from the members (or prospective members) I believe he will achieve this. |

Attended last night and happy to say things are looking good in the club. Great face lift to the place and had several conversations with the new owner about future plans and excited to see what happens to the venue over the next few weeks. Going to be a fun venue for swingers and kinksters alike. |

We made a trip to Dundee last night and attended Bacchus. Always said would do things and places twice before ruled them out. Just happens Kudos closed before we made 2nd trip but we weren't in a hurry from November last year as wasn't really for us based on 1st experience.
Prior post has covered a lot around the website, club etc rather well so will be brief on those elements.
We went vastly expecting a very quiet night so took bag of toys to salvage if needed. It was a quiet night but as said to owner felt was poorly promoted with just the thread.
Then there is the past issues and fact place had diminished reputation so his struggle to turn all that round will be real. To confirm it is a new guy at forefront of club.
The club now compared to when Kudos... reception area has been reduced and locker room moved and reduced opening a new space for new room, good plans in place for there.
Toilet, Kitchen are identical.
1st social area is same with bar area moved into it from kitchen.
Upstairs hallway and bigger social area are same also.
Downstairs is seeing some changes (some done some to be done) but it's still same space and rooms as before.
That covers building but remember they can't magic bigger building or space only aim to better utilise what got and he has tried doing that.
Now appearance wise, place was alot cleaner and I didn't smell mould which was a big off put from Kudos visit.
Been repainted as stated which gives place a cleaner, nicer and fresher look with a bit of colour.
Club staff were all lovely, chatty and friendly and were keen to hear thoughts on work done so far and future plans as well as hear guests/members ideas to try provide a more desired club for Dundee and travellers too.
Me and partner had little debate on whether should have set swingers opening to last night.
Though I agree with partner maybe should have held firm til other work done, I also speculatively understood why they opened as effectively this all started with "Kudos shut" thread and think announcement would be reopening as Bacchus he set a burner under his own backside to hurry opening.
Overall place is better than was as Kudos but definitely has improvements to be made.
We got intrigued to how it will look when fully done and in time we will see.
On supply of information front via forum and website. We did express we felt they needed to be more forthcoming and on the ball with it all.
However, we as swingers need be realistic also... what would you want to see on website besides it staying up and available, which believe it is now but they are just starting out/restarting so isn't packed with planned events.
They are working on many fronts all at once whilst mixing working life and new skill learning at same time.
Hopefully this provides some insight and perspective for curious parties.

Lots of valid points on this thread. However surprised and disappointed that the new owner and OP of this thread has answered very little of the questions asked specifically surrounding swinging events and prices. |

There are 2 private play rooms available. These can be used at any event (first come first served basis). There are also plans for the room under construction being available for bookings.
There is also the kink room with the cross and stocks, which can be reconfigured to a private play room as well, depending on demand. |

The new owner explained that, the new kink room being constructed may also be availble for private bookings. Meaning, for example: 2 couples requiring a private room might be able to pre book the room for their private use.
His aim is have this level of flexibility with the rooms to suit the requirments of the members. |

A Halloween party for Saturday 28th October is on the website . Short notice I know. But its there anyway.
Bacchus is on Facebook
And hopefully will be on more sites very soon , we are a brand new club hoping to get the way you want us . We know things don't happen overnight the club hasn't reopened its only just opened ideas are great fully recieved and we will do everything possible to meet the demands of the members. Unfortunately the building is fixed and space is limited so we need to take into consideration and make the best use of the space we do have available. Bacchus is a club for its members it is your club.. |

What is the situation regarding the proposed daytime swinging event on Mondays?
I am hoping to be in Dundee on Monday 7th November, and would certainly attend if it is open for this purpose. |

"I know plenty of guys (including me!!) would attend a daytime swingers session, but are there many couples or women that would enjoy a daytime session? "
I wouldn't imagine there would be many, most people work weekdays, or one might be off and the other not. We only went to the GG afternoon at CJs in Jul as we were on leave

Hi. Me and the wife want to attend a club (first for us) and are looking at arranging this on 12 November when next free. Looking for some thoughts on whether this place has anything on for couples on a Saturday evening? Timings? What to expect? Any advice welcome. Thanks xx
Both bi a little beyond curious |

Its a pity there is no daytime weekend entry for straight singles and couples as well as the bi gay as this is the best time for those who work all week and maybe cant get to the bi-monthy swingers nights |

Was there Sat 5th. 2nd visit under new owner so knew what to expect layout and cleaner/brighter than previous
.
Good points
==========
Staff friendly as usual
Was a few in. Good company in sauna, good blether and laugh. I didn't get shagged tho but that aint the establishment's fault
.
Bad points
=========
Steam room was acting it. Steam box was freezing. Normally you burn your arse on the bench. I did notice though - on previous visit - that the steam output was MUCH more than on previous owner/incarnation.
Building was cold again. Was frequently commented on and people coming in to sauna box for a heat. The other comments were lack of marketing to the bi/gay community.
All said, it is a case of use it or lose it. |

Nobody can use it if they don't know about it. Lack of heat in a sauna premises.....something far wrong there. |

The first set of comments are from a post I made on Fabguys about Kudos and the second from my visit to Bacchus:
'''I want to be really fair here as I enjoyed many great times there over the years and under all previous owners, but the standards slipped to an unacceptable level of cleanliness at times. The bins need emptied everyday and BEFORE opening as that sets the standard for the day ahead, the towels from the day/night before should be in the laundry room not in the basket in the locker area.
I will never complain about numbers attending as I truly believe ‘ I pay my money, I take my chances’ but attention to detail is what will make this new venture a success and that starts with punctuality in opening as I have traveled from home to attend at 12 to find it closed as people have over slept from the swingers night before.
As I say, I am being balanced as I know with Covid the challenge for any business was bloody tough and now the current energy crisis so my fingers are tightly crossed the new business will be a great success. The gay/bi sauna part of the business should be given the exact same focus as the swingers night and I personally never felt it was.
Good luck and get the basics right and you are hopefully set up to be a great success'
ABOVE are my comments from another thread and I thought `I would wait until the new set up was a little established before going. I went on Sunday and yesterday and I was welcomed by a very pleasant man on reception both days. I paid day membership and entry both days. I was shown the new locker room area and that is a good idea as it gives them the opportunity of a new kink playroom and the toilets down stairs are being converted to another playroom. Both these rooms are work in progress. It certainly is cleaner than it was before and that is great.
The steam room was broken and only 1 shower working on Sunday and the same yesterday, now being a regular over the years that steam room is out of action a lot, I mean a lot (rip it out and put another sauna in, or get another), the working shower is not strong or really fit for purpose.
The main issue for me both days is that the main heating is not working, it was bloody freezing yesterday. You are walking around in a towel, in fairness the darkroom was warmer than the other playrooms/video room upstairs but darkrooms are not my thing. We were huddled in the sauna to keep warm, not to enjoy a sauna for the reason it's there. The portable heaters are not strong enough ( albeit I was there at the start of the day so maybe it builds over time ) but I am entitled to be warm as an early bird.
I paid £15 both days and that is a fiver more than before but still reasonable in my opinion but the increased price is to cover the improvements that are still work in progress and if there is an ongoing dispute with the utility company, it needs resolved the the main heating restored.
I never complain about the number of attendees, but if quiet (it was, both days ) I am happy to enjoy the facilities, the steam room, the sauna and the video room upstairs to watch movies, yesterday I could only enjoy the sauna as the steam was broken and the room to watch the movies was too cold to sit in a towel and I am not getting dressed to sit and enjoy a film, I could do that at home.
Again, good luck to the new venture,
These are my comments, nothing to do with this site. |
