Best would have to be Andrew Fairlie @ Gleneagles.

Most visited would be The Loveable Rogue on Great Western Road in Glasgow.

Number one at the Balmoral for fine dining was hard to beat.

For a causal meal. Sitting on a bench stuffing my face with langoustines from the seafood shack in Ullapool was also pretty great.

Try the Barin.... just on the outskirts of Oben. A wee but of the beaten track just of the Campbeltown road. But the food and atmosphere are very special. There are cabins if you want to stay. It's just fresh air and bloody great food. I can recommend the pork with black pudding mash. Plus the steak, and the steak pie ...

think I must say I have tried most of the menu. Good Scottish fair and and plenty of it.

Best dessert I ever had was at Duchally House near Gleneagles , the rest of the meal was amazing too. My then partner was a runner and won the meal for winning a race, which made it even better

Sapporo in Glasgow City centre, they were doing a promotion a few years back where a six course meal which was usually £60 a head, was reduced down to £20 a head. Took a dozen people from my work to it, and everyone of us gorged ourselves on everything from shrimp, lobster, beef, sushi, chicken, duck and so on, until each one of us was stuffed to the gills.

More than one colleague mentioned afterwards that it was the greatest meal they’d ever had

Firstly, I’m surprised nobody has offered themselves up as the best meal in Scotland

Pendulum in Paisley is right up there. Had an amazing kedgeree/risotto mix that I still can’t get out of my head. Beaut.
