In the west.

There is a place down on the coast where you can pay £12, if I remember correctly, just for the fish. It is monkfish though. But it's still a takeaway.

Yep, a fish supper north of Forfar/ Montrose way will set you back over a tenner and, AND, the basturts up here are stingey with their salt and vinegar!

What? Omg!! No way.

Chinese takeaways are now giving the dishes but without including rice or chips I've noticed, these are charged as extra! Pfft!

Aberdeenshire

Nine squid!? Robbing basstards! Was it a gold fish!?

At that price, even a large, strong, attractive Blue Tang still wouldn't be hunky-Dory.

A lot of this is because of energy costs though - the restaurants will be paying through the nose because the rate for businesses isn’t capped

somewhere

The reason fish shops are being affected so bad is the price rise in energy. The gas shortage caused by the Ukraine invasion is the main reason it is "getting out of hand"

I was speaking to the guy in my local chippy yesterday and he was pretty damming about it, said he thinks 50% will close in its current state. This is sad

A rep from their industry association was on the radio last week saying that they expect pretty much every fish and chip ship in the country to be closed within 12 months.
