smokers,,,,,

we get too much stick from people here,,,not all smokers stink, granted i bet a few do but probably the ones that also dont wash clothes or themselves very often. people are surprised when they find out i smoke, simply because i have standards such as, i wont smoke near non smokers, wont smoke if going into confined spaces such as dentist waiting rooms or in a non smokers car. i always smell bloody great.

i have what a lot of smokers dont,,,and that is pride in myself, i know its a bad habit and only needs to be a smelly habit if you allow it,,,oh, and we never smoke in the house either.

and our breaths do not stink either!!! lol

As an ex smoker ... i have to say smokers stink... take mints all you like but your clothes smell and your hair and breathe ..sorry but you cant hide a smoker... i was one for years and hoped no one could tell... everyone did.. just walk outside a supermarket and the smell is awful...

I can guarantee that not one of our meets would know we were smokers, what kind of people would turn up with smokey smelling clothes or breath and hair? Not us! So you think you would smell smoke of us? If we met non smokers we would not have cigarettes! We have manners and take others into consideration! We work with the public and never smoke at work, not even one before work! Dnt smoke in the house. We smoke very little, hence why people are unaware! My point is that not all smokers reek of a 1970s miners welfare club!

what is the law regarding distance you need to be away from ..ie pub doors when smoking...as that really fries my eggs when i need to run the gauntlet of smokers to get in the pub...

There no rules re distance (at least in Scotland) you only have to be outside the premises.

Dont know if there is one, but it is minging and shouldnt be allowed at the entrance to any buildings. Our local hospital is the worst for it and its meant to be no smoking!

yeah i think that it's a disgrace...people sitting in wheelchairs wi oxygen cylinders attached and puffing away merrily...all these i'll folk puffing away, ironic really...and the amount of fag butts littering the entrance omg..!!!

Apparently there is one.......kind of.......Someone's obviously given a wad of dosh to some boffin to come up with a formunlae and worked out that 17 feet away from the entrance is a safe distance!!!!But can only be applied to employees of whatever organisation was daft enough to employ the boffin in the first place!!!!!.....local authorities,eh???!!!

Ah lol so you have gone from a smoker to you smoke very little, if you smoke as little now as your indicating, then yes would be easy to disguise the fact you are pretty much a non smoker, if smoking as little as you claim then why bother, then you needn't rant on the forum lol

What is it to you if people chose not to meet smokers? As has been put on multiple threads on the Scotland forum, people can chose who they meet or reply to, and if you don't like the fact that they won't meet smokers, thats your problem, no one else's.

in simple terms, a smoker is a smoker whether its 1 a day or 40 a day. not all smokers are stinking and hang about doorways of public buildings. some have manners and respect for others, like we do! thats all.

and as for giving up, well we dont want to. my point is that we are not all the same. i agree, some smokers even give us the heave and have no manners for people around them,,,

our kids have never saw us smoke

nor have our clients and when drinking we would rather stay in the pub with our drinks than go outside and get soaked. it may not be what you stereotype as a smoker but we are and wouldnt lie on our profile.

One of the unintended consequences of the smoking ban is that we no longer have the background fug that infected our country for years but that only serves to highten the vomit inducing feelings when walking past a so-called beer garden or similar communal pollution spot.

on way home from work,,,when kids out playing when we have one in the garden, then when kids in bed perhaps we will have another in the garden. then before bed perhaps another one in the garden,,,,but the later one is optional

it is very possible to be a light smoker like us, we also take into consideration that our kids learn at school that smoking is harmful and causes death, so we think it best not to let them worry or to teach them bad habits. why is it so hard for you to grasp?? and its not to hide it from work, we are allowed, but choose not to as we mix with the public and its not polite to have a cig before attending to clients!!! quite simple actually.

i guess its just more easy to understand that smokers are on packs a day, clutter doorways and reek of smoke.

Why would you not tell them it's bad? You're comment is a bit OTT IMHO and has hints of 'you're a bad parent' when I'm assuming that you don't know these people personally?

I smoke but I've explained to my kids that it is bad for your health and they're always getting on at me to stop, so I am as of today and they're well pleased.

we are smokers ourselfs and we have met smokers and non smokers who we have played with as a smoker who has stopped lots of times you can smell the smoke of smokers but thats why you have a choice on fab to meet smokers or nonsmokers

I smoke but I've explained to my kids that it is bad for your health and they're always getting on at me to stop, so I am as of today and they're well pleased.

ive never put ash in my mouth, or stubbed out cig ends. i kinda think no other smoker has either. so no comparison really.

im sure most guys would not knock back a cracking girl because she had a tab!!!

yes it's,do as i say,not as i do,that's not sad,it's being a responsible parent.

just as a parent who got poor grade's at school,encouraging their children to work hard to get good grade's,that's do as i say,not do as i do,being a responsible parent,is not sad.

End of the day its down to having choice, to meet or not meet smokers. Having a "go" for the sake of it to attack smokers is childish. Thankfully we have never had this kind of attack personally.

The filters are there for a purpose so make use of them. The swinging world is HUGE, its capable of encompassing and embracing a massive selection choice.

We wish everyone sincere luck in finding what they are looking for. With or without smoke.

we smoke, but we will meet not non smokers, and no we wont spray you with ash perfume when we meet, we like a drink but we will meet teetotlars, we are profesional but not up our own arses and no its not on our profile. at the end off the day we are who we are and we meet people who are friendly polite and who usually have a wide _iew of what to expect we are fun loving and not derogatory to anyone. life is short and sometimes not very sweet so why waste time being negative, why cant we all just get on and have fun xxx just my plain and simple _iew

He smokes outside the house, and when he comes back in I can smell the smoke.

Smoking brings a smoking smell wether you want to believe it or not.

It's inevitable. Smokers can't help it.

It doesn't make them bad people but futile attempts to deny the reality just make them look a wee bit daft.

It's an emotive subject but so is the business of children dying from smoking related illnesses whilst their parents continue to light up 'in secret' as if that's an Iron Curtain that'll absolve them of all guilt in the matter.

My god! Please read through! Yes, may smell after a cig, but not on meets with non smokers! Not smell all the times like people say! We do not all smell. Heavy smokers will. Some days we do not smoke so how the hell would you smell smoke, not from us, the house or car! So we leave a non smokey house after getting ready, get into a non smokey car, arrive at a non smokey venue and mix with non smokers! How do we smell of smoke? When do you smell of alcohol? All the time or just after consumption? Read post.

I am not sure why you are getting so airated....you started the post so people will post comments.

My opinion is, as a non smoker I can smell smokers. The only way you wouldn't be able to smell a smoker is if they bathe and change every bit of clothing after every smoke.

You can tell people all you like that you don't smell of smoke, but people will comment on that with their _iews of what they can smell.

Don't get so upset, it doesn't make smokers bad people for smoking. In fact I would say you sound like a responsible smoker who doesn't push it into other peoples faces including not even smoking in your own home.

Just accept that some people will think the way they do about smokers and leave it at that as I am not sure who you are trying to convince anymore.

You got it,, as my point is, we are smokers, when we go to work we have bathed, clean clothes and no cigs. That means as smokers we do not smell of smoke and this also applies to meets. Quite simple really. Not all smokers smell of smoke! Im not trying to convince anyone, i was raising a point the same as not all drinkers smell of drink! We can pass as non smokers and be as fresh as non smokers. So the comments relating to all smokers stink is untrue.

They do smell of smoke when they smoke , wether they wash their clothes and themselves regulary or not.

My OH is the cleanest person ever in all aspects, bordering on OCD cleanliness, but if he has a fag he smells of smoke.

It can't be helped, thats what happens. It doesn't mean he is dirty or a bad person, he just likes to have a smoke.

I am not sure why you are worried what other people think anyway as long as the people you are meeting are happy whats the problem?

The ones who don't like smokers will just avoid the likes of you and us....it isn't a problem for us as we respect their choice and I don't feel the need to tell people they are wrong for having that _iew of smokers or their choice of not meeting them

If you are not smoking for days before a meet then maybe they can't smell smoke on you I don't know....but as I say, non smokers can normally tell who the smokers are.

In fact when I packed up smoking many moons ago I used to stand by strangers who smoked to get a whiff of it to cure my craving for a bit

Damn that was embarrasing.....I asked Mr R to come and let me smell him so he bent over, I said sod off I don't want to smell there let me smell your head, so he said which head...just as the plumber who is here fixing the boiler walked into the room we were in to say it was done !!

Anyway the answer is, I smelt his jacket and head and I can smell smoke, and he hasn't had a fag for 2 hours.
