Im not sure how often this needs to be said, the strike has fuck all to do with train drivers.

Among the staff on strike:

Customer hosts

Gateline assistance

Revenue protection

Fleet maintenance

dispatchers

Ticket office staff

Conductors

Chefs

Service managers

Apprentices

Technicians

Workshop staff

Fitters

Cleaners

Admin staff

Painters

Controllers

Signalers

Electricians

Welders

Social media staff

And many more.

Its also not just about pay (3 years without a pay rise and working through the pandemic, they deserve it though) but also conditions and that network rail plan to cut staff.

Staff cuts which will impact safety.

I know the media are feeding the hype as I know train drivers who have no shortages in their crews as it was said at the strike inception. They have reported for work and told they cannot go out on the route because they not allowed.

Its political although there are shortages in some areas but let's not believe all the stories we are told.

There is a definite hidden agenda with public services including police and fire.

Ask why there are literally hundreds leaving service because of a detrimental enforced new pension scheme where they are loosing money and pension rights because of government mismanagement.

The news tells you what they want you to hear. Speak with the folks on the shop floor about the real story behind the issues and not jump to assumptions.

Well I think many folk would jump at the chance of earning rail worker salaries including military.. emergency service workers..and many academic professionals. It's absolutely disgusting.. they had it way to cushy n still want more.

Considering what ticket inspectors/ collectors do I think £33k is likely top of a pay scale. Probably wage needs increasing considering the people they deal with.

Why would anyone who considers themselves working class stand in the way of others fighting for better pay and conditions??? Absolutely bizarre populist sheeple opinions.

Stop licking the spoon of the bullshit you are being fed.

Of course we all need more money, but don't stand in the way of the only tool we have in our arsenal.

Surely the answer is to increase the lower paid people you mention to at least 33k then?

For those that want the stress of being a train driver and the salary, then go ahead and apply to become one. Don’t sit behind a keyboard and complain about their salary without knowing what their job entails.

A driver can’t drive their train without all the support workers but that’s exactly what they are trying to cut back on. Personally, I don’t want to travel on a train without a ticket collector for my personal safety. I’ve been on a train where they’ve called the police and two passengers were removed from the train!

My recent train cancellations have been due to the trains themselves having faults and nothing to do with staffing.

Everybody has the right not to work, so the question is can you afford not to give them a rise & risk them leaving the job

As someone who works on the railway and not a train driver, the ballot was carried out democratically and strike was the majority decision. Its our right to carry out industrial action and its not all about pay, my personal reason is the hatchet job on my conditions

On strike? As they should. I support them 100%

Try stopping and having a good think about what their job actually entails before having a bitch

I work in the emergency services and support them 100%. Why wouldn't I want other workers to be well compensated?

Why do so many people want others to be equally fucked instead of supporting them in achieving better pay and conditions and maybe getting the same for themselves?
