Anyone else fed up with it yet? Wall to wall coverage on every news network, media and newspapers.

In these times of people struggling with the cost of living crisis is it justified spending £1 billion on this event/occasion?.

I was caught sleeping. If I'd any brains I'd have set up a burger van in an appropriate busy meeting spot thereby helping to redistribute some of that one billion into my pocket. ...just need to learn to cook an egg, fry a sausage and we're sorted....could even had had the Andrew guy flipping burgers as he was never getting the invite..

Im back up in Scotland this weekend, and glad of it.

Over the border 1 in 5 houses is covered in union jack flags and bunting, every 2nd car it seems has a flag...

Its actually giving me the heave.

Good business plan. Needs to be a sunny day so the window extends to late August, otherwise next year. In that case you'll need somewhere to store it...

Thoroughly enjoyed watching the celebrations on tv. The Queen has been an amazing asset for this country, although I admit some of her family have not!

It's a waste of money.

At her age I'm sure she'd be happy with the afternoon off for a wee nap and Radio 4 in the background.

All the Union Jack wavers could still have a party in their garden to celebrate with a carry out. The pomp and ceremony is a lot of pish.

How do you reach that conclusion? I've no issue with people celebrating what they like and in any way they choose. But in light of the endless press coverage about ordinary people struggling with the cost of living, the money spent on this is completely unjustified and distasteful.

Not sure helping people with substance abuse issues is wasting money but £700 million on an Edinburgh tram system and we still have poor public transport links to our major airports is my biggest gripe when it comes to wasting money.

I actually quite like it but I’ve hardly seen anything about it other than when I watched the news this morning while eating my breakfast.

Something I don’t understand is why people go out their way to get upset. Watch something else on tv, there’s more channels not showing it than there is showing it. Scroll past it on your news feed if it’s online news you read. Don’t buy a newspaper if it upsets you.

I spent the whole day at loch goil and not once did I hear or see anything about it since I left the house.

A 96 year old woman still working in a job she never asked for, 70 years serving her country with dignity and decorum, respected and revered the world over. 70 years of being at the beck and call of various governments, of not being able to voice a personal opinion in public, of being under a media spotlight 24/7 . 70 years of being accused by communists, socialists, republicans and nationalists of being a burden to the tax payers due to the millions received from the state when in fact Forbes estimate the House of Windsor contributes 19 BILLION to the British economy annually. So at the end of the day whether you celebrate this platinum jubilee or not it is your choice, no one is forcing you, especially not Her Majesty. The divine right of monarchs ended a long time ago ( you can thank King William III)

She is NOT Queen Elizabeth II, who does she think she is changing history? She is QEII in England but in Scotland she is just QE, there has not been an Elizabeth on the throne of Scotland before. If it was hood enough for James VI of Scotland to be James I of England and so on, Queenie should respect historical facts. The who monarchy thing is outdated and time for the scroungers to hand every penny they have stashed away from the taxpayers back to the country.

Totally agree. I do believe he is a total wrong one. But I'm going to be totally facetious here. The case centres around his meeting with her in London. Am i correct? She was 17 at the time so technically not done anything wrong so long as she consented which as far as I am aware she did.

"Personal I don't believe a German family should rule over Britain but I bare the queen no ill will"

Just out of curiosity and in general terms, when does an immigrant family actually become "British/Scottish/Welsh/Irish"?

Because if we all look back in our family trees I'm sure 99.995+% of us will find "immigrant" blood somewhere.

Or is this a special case?

Would you be happy if someone with an African or heritage became prime minister or first minister?

I don't disagree that he is a predator and should be held accountable.

But this case was centered around Tramp nightclub in London. She was of legal age in uk at the time.

Trying to charge him in states where she was under age is like. U meet an American student scotland who is 17. You have sex with her. She returns to new York where age of consent is 18. She tries to press changes against you for sex with a minor and have u extradited to face that charge.

What Is your thoughts on this scenario?

Can't dispute that Andrew is perceived as a 'nonce' as you say...but the Queen didn't pay the £12m. The vast majority came from the sale of his own property he had overseas, primarily a skiing chalet somewhere in Europe.

Personally, if he had nothing to fear he should have gone to court to challenge the individual and defend himself.

However, there's no excuse for either a family or an organisation denying or hiding that they had a "nonce or more" living or working in their midst.

It'll come back to bite them on the arse and cost them big-time in the end when the dirty washing is finally brought into the public gaze during a court case.

I personally consider the union jack as a English thing. I have no problems with English, nice people and that. But I can't forget what that Bast#&rd Thatcher done to Scotland back in the 80s/90s. That women hated us, without a doubt. She shut everything she could, ... Anyway no harm to the queen, she's done nothing to harm me. But she's done nothing to help me either. I just celebrate anything with that flag in it.
