OK, so women can and should be able to wear what they want, when they want without fear of inappropriate behaviour towards them. That is a given.
However... what are people's views on extremely revealing workout gear in the gym? I'm talking micro shorts, single strap bra tops and material so thin you can see piercings through them?
Do you love being in that environment?
Does it put you off?
Do you find it intimidating?

I don't care what anyone wears to the gym. I wear loose things so they don't stick to me.
I wear tight things when I go out as I'm comfortable wearing them so what is the difference.
Everyone pervs (eh eh I mean looks) at the gym and thinks about the hours that person has put in.
What kind of piercings do you mean Double M? Nipples, foofas or Prince Alberts. |

Agree they should wear what they want..however...
Wearing micro shorts to a gym you will get looks so can't really complain when you do..me personally wouldn't allow my daughter to wear such.
No clue why anyone would want to go workout with half your arse hanging out anyway? |

Anyone should able to wear whatever they want, wherever they want as long as it does not offend anyone.
However some will see it as attention seeking and an invitation.
That is the ultimate problem.
Regardless of were we are, school run, shops, gym, nightclub, walking down a street - femininity is seen as a sexual!!!
It's wrong. It should be seen as another beautiful individual.
But that is social conditioning for you.
Which is why females are subimially taught to have one eye open at all times incase of unwanted advances....

I agree.
But I also think that as members of society, our actions, words and attire make a statement to the outside world about who we are. How that is interpreted is often outwith our control.
I adore women's bodies and often admire any beautiful woman I see when out and about. However in a gym setting, with the example given above, I suppose I find it "too much" as I interpret it as "look at me! look at me!"And that's an instant turn off for me.
To be fair a lot of young guys stoat about with the same attitude though they're not wearing the same kind of gear. |

but seriously, I think nipple rings poking through is just to attract attention, Camel toes are nice, I love all animals, especially Beavers |

This probably wont be popular opinion.
I think women have the right to wear what they want, but if you wear something revealing you cant complain if a guy looks at you because you look attractive. |

The guys usually wear a tight top or a vest to show off their bulging bicepts. But they don't wear tight shorts or leggings as they don't want to show off their camel toes either because the roids have shrunk their boabies. |

Are women wearing what they want to the gym or are women just following what the fashion industry (controlled by men) wants them to wear though?
Why are women in revealling lycra and men in baggy shorts? |

"Intense staring is being urged to be reported as it's claimed to be and early warning for. unhealthy sexual behaviour"
That is completely out of order. If it's making a woman (or a guy for that matter) feel uncomfortable.
Maybe my point is if you're dressing in a way that leaves absolutely nothing to the imagination, is it appropriate in that kind of setting? |

Is it then the fault, or caused by the manufacturers who produce these items of gymwear. The materials used are for that specific purpose, some retain the moisture and others are dryfit and easy to wash. |

Male here question for the ladies along the same line, would you go to the gym with full make up on? (I know the wife wouldn't we have had this convo)And if you caught a guy stairing but found him attractive would you be less likely to report? I do look around between sets and have found there does seem to be fair few ladies that seem to have more interest in there appearance than working out same with guys i on the other hand usually look like a sweaty mess by the time i leave and couldn't care less how i looked. |

I have gone with make up on years ago. That was when I was going straight from work and literally running in the door to make the class on time though. So not consciously applied to look good for the gym. To counter that argument though, many, many women wear make up day to day and in every social setting. You don't look twice just because a woman is wearing make up. Wearing an item of clothing that draws attention to your labia or your nipples is a bit different from wearing eyeliner.
I'd only consider reporting if someone was being extremely inappropriate. Their attractiveness would be irrelevant as that kind of behaviour could make me feel unsafe. |

Ah yeah that is a good point about coming straight from work. I hit the gym usually early morning after my nightshift which is probably why i find it strange for the ladies to have full make on while working out more thinking its something they would apply after they work out before heading of to work. But definitely get what your saying when i train in the evenings.

You should do your research a little bud before escalating the topic to make a point. Here's the actual facts.
.
Dominik Bullock, 26, and of Spurcroft road, Thatcham, was found guilty of causing intentional harassment, alarm or distress contrary to Section 4(a) of the Public Order Act.
He was sentenced to 22 weeks in prison at Reading Magistrates’ Court yesterday (Thursday 10 March).
The court heard how at around 1.45pm on Saturday 5 March, Bullock sat next to the victim on the train and began staring at her, very intently. The victim asked him to stop staring several times as it was making her feel uncomfortable, but he refused.
She asked Bullock to move as he was blocking her exit, but he refused again and said she would have to climb over him, while spreading his legs.
The victim, who was visibly upset, continued to ask Bullock to move out of her way. Bullock remained emotionless and still refused.
Other passengers in the carriage also started asking Bullock to move while the victim phoned the police, but he continued to refuse.
I think it was a bit more than staring

Obviously they can wear what they want to work out, impractical or not. It does give the impression that they are seeking attention and/or vain and neither traits are attractive in a person.
They will definitely get looks dressed like that, maybe they connect this with eg. the amount of likes they get on their social media page.

Can't say I've ever questioned what other women wear to the gym, revealing or not. Definitely doesn't intimidate me or put me off, if anything it encourages me to work harder.
Some women work extremely hard on their bodies and like to see the results and the 'pump' they get from each exercise. So short shorts and bra tops would be the easiest way of doing this.
I wear flattering leggings to the gym because I like my arse, not because I want people to 'look at me'. Because everytime I walk by the mirror I like to have a cheeky swatch at myself |

That last part isn’t surprising these days as in Glasgow there was a lad jailed for looking in an MSPs office window. The large plate glass “Shop” window. Nothing said or done, just looking in the window.

Anyone should be able to wear what they want in a gym.
Last week when I was in there was 2 younger girls who looked like they were going for a night out.. Make up/ hair done / very short tight shorts and tops that barely covered them.... I'm not saying they shouldn't wear this but just don't be surprised if you get a few glances off the guys... Its only natural |

I think gym wear is hot - I don't stare because that's creepy, and to be honest, I'm usually just about dying in the gym so hey ho...
Anyone should be able to wear anything they want, and people (guys particularly) should not act anything other than normally. |

I need to wear fairly supportive tops or there would be tits out everywhere..plus I'm a sweaty mess at the end of a workout no matter what I'm wearing.
I've worked in fitness for a long time now and don't care what people wear but the choice of outfit is a pretty good indicator of who is there to work out and who isn't! |

When I'm working out I wear a shoulder backless vest, shirt shorts with a very noticeable bulge and make rather loud noises when lifting heavy so don't see much of a problem females doing the same. When I'm in the gym it's to do one thing, work out, then maybe show off and perv....
"....tin hat oan for this one! Prompted by a convo with a Fab friend.

Everyone should wear gym gear.
Personally I wear baggy gear. I keep everything under wrap.
I go to the gym to train high intensity old school bodybuilding.
Just my lifestyle.
Gym for training, not to think about sex. |
