Yes, they're popping off all over tonight, and there's a big bonfire and fireworks on Monday. We just don't put anyone on the bonfire any more.

I'd imagine that Guy Fawkes was possibly the best person ever to enter Parliament and with the noblest intentions ever for us nation of 'plebs'....

People think Guy Fawkes was at the centre of the Gunpowder Plot, when in fact he was just the "hired hit-man".

Robert Catesby was the brains behind the entire episode and wanted King James I to be punished for going back on his promise to stop the persecution of Catholics.

Guy Fawkes was merely an explosives expert recruited to lay down gunpowder in the cellars of the House of Lords.

I like the sound of this chap Catesby ,every time the utterly corrupt money grabbers in westminster goback on there word then get a hit-man in with a truck load of gunpowder , if nothing else , it might keep them honest , for a wee while , lol

Unfortunately Catesby was shot. The rest of the conspurators were rounded up and faced a public execution.

Each was hanged, before having their internal organs removed and their bodies chopped into 4 pieces. Hence the term hung, drawn and quartered.

Here endeth today's history lesson lol x

makes you wander what the penalty would be if you were a repeat offender in wanting to re arrange westminster , a rather stiff telling off from a local bobbby might just be in order

Us brits would usually disembowel first while person still alive. Then hung by the noose. Then arms and legs were drawn or pulled apart. And they say the brits were civilised. . . .

They were hung first but not so that they died , they were then taken and drawn and quartered while still alive.

If you read the history of the British Empire we were far from civilised

And even going back to the days of Good King Richard he was anything but good he was a mass murderer and executed full cities man, woman and child.

Thanks, I have learnt something new today. How cunning of the authorities of the time to focus attention on the contractor and not on the politics behind the attempt.

Perhaps Guy Fawkes could come to Scotland.. The parlimentary building would look better alight, so would Alex Salmond and Nicola Sturgeon with their very strange ideas... oh and the rest of their delegation too...
