They are definitely out there.
One of our first ventures into swinging was a soft swing experience where the other couple shagged fuck out each other while we kind felt out of our depth on the bed beside them just kinda shyly avoiding eye contact with them. When they were finished they were so appreciative of us watching them ( we only looked over for about 5 seconds) they kept saying it was so good being watched. 
We were like , " aye nae problem" whilst realy were thinking WTF .
