So wee nippy Nicola has now dropped most restrictions.
So much for the bullshit of being data driven restrictions in Scotland, so much for blaming the UK government about leaving airports open while Nippy is inviting people into her super hub for refugees,so much for doing what's right for Scotland blah de blah.
She was quick to play political games during covid while the UK government was handing out constant funds , now the money is gone all the bullshit about Scotland being a front runner in the fight against covid has gone right out the window. I Said all along it was political games she was playing. Proof is in the pudding now. |

One that annoyed me was locking down Dumfries and Galloway for a couple of cases of covid and Glasgow was sitting on about 30 cases at the time. Nothing to do with stopping Scots crossing the border, of course not. |

I agree with Bubo, you might get a better level of response in the politics section, from Fabbers who come on to Fab to talk politics. It's the last place I want to discuss politics, but that's my preference x |

She also wasted £30+ billion on a useless track and trace and used personal phones and emails etc to carry out official government business which is very dodgy at best and illegal and against government policy due to security and the fact that dodgy deals are hard to trace. Then there is the fact that she handed out millions of £s of useless PPE contracts to her friends many of whom had absolutely no idea what they were doing (the pub owner friend comes to mind) then like the case of the guy that supplied over £400 worth of crap ppe that had to be destroyed at the taxpayers expense as it was not fit for use but he was handed another contract??? I could go on and on about the corruption she was involved in but just dont have the hours to do so. I just remembered it was not Sturgeon but Johnson and his party of total corruption. |

No I don't think any of them done a particularly great job and bojo should be sacked for all his blatant rule breaking too. Every fine issued to every person in the country should be torn up and every fine paid out already should be returned to those people too. Feel free to start a thread about bojo and I will support you all the way but this is what people do when you criticise Nicola, you deflect by saying could you do a better job or automatically assume by having a go at wee nippy you must be a supporter of bojo. Simple deflect tactics. As a polititian wee Nic is a master but we didn't need a party political broadcast on a daily basis , she used that position almost every day so much so that she spent much of it criticising and blaming others instead of doing her job as much as possible. As you said rightly say about bojo the failings and double dealings were terrible but it was on all sides of the border not just england. Many of Nicolas decisions were political and not in the best interests of Scotland but a one upmanship situation on the UK government. See I could argue like you and say things like , if track and trace was such a waste why didn't wee nic have a better option ? Why blame the UK on closing borders to late when she had the power to stop flights coming to Scotland earlier ? All these arguments work great in hindsight but as I say my point is that Nicola turned a pandemic into the biggest party political broadcast ever and mostly to the detriment of Scottish people. Leaving businesses closed longer than the rest of the UK to name but one, closing down Dumfries and Galloway to stop border crossing when cases were 10 x worse in glasgow. Like I say feel free to start a bash bojo thread and I'll stand beside you but plz don't use that as a defense of wee nic and her failings. Adding should she have listened to me is the worst way ever to make a point too. The furlough money has gone , suddenly the " experts" say its safe even though the data shows otherwise. Go figure on the data driven covid rules.

Like everyone else I’m bored of covid too but it does kill off the vulnerable and whilst everyone is up in arms over needless deaths in Ukraine, dropping all covid precautions here puts the vulnerable at needless risk of death.
The rules are flawed and always have been but moaning about it from political angles isn’t worth the effort. Every single political party would have made just as much an arse of it in Scotland, id imagine however no-one would have fucked it as hard as the tories down south with their private contracts and such like.
It will all stop eventually, till then we just got to keep on as we are |

So now you need a doctorate to read ? I can read the national statistics and unless I'm wrong in what I'm reading covid cases are rising . So my point is , she's maintained she will be data driven so why are restrictions being eased, my guess would be the money tree has dried up, you keep deflecting but never answer my question. |

"Referring to Nicola Sturgeon as "wee nippy" immediately destroys any credibility your argument may have had. "
OK the best polititian in Scotland ( I genuinely mean that ) has made some shitty decisions during the pandemic, including lifting restrictions when covid cases are at the worst they've been since covid started. How's that bud. Seriously I do give her credit as the best polititian in Scotland, doesn't mean I have to agree with her. |

Yaaawn. I can't stand keyboard politicians. You have an opinion on her which is great but it does not mean you are correct, people like to point fingers but forget it's the torys that's in charge, she only has some power here and she's only going by the advice of her scientific advisors, so if anyone has it wrong, it's them, she's just relaying the information and doing what she thinks is best with that info.
All the politicians are corrupt but at least (in my opinion) she's the best of that bunch. I don't think any of us would have done a better job. |

Am I reading this right?
Criticism that restrictions are being lifted when deaths and hospitalisations are low, even though cases are increasing.
And, arguing that the restrictions that were in place when deaths and hospitalisations were high, were unnecessary.
Is that right?

No your reading that she made political decisions to be different to the rest of the UK that had more of an impact on Scottish people , all for the purpose of having continuous pops at the UK government. A government that she mostly followed but with a 2 week delay. Almost everything the UK government did she criticised then followed suit . The daily briefing should have been followed every day by the message, "this has been a party political broadcast by the SNP party" like they do during elections. |

39 new reported deaths of people who have tested positive25 people were in intensive care yesterday with recently confirmed COVID-19

Do you believe everything you read on the internet?
As someone who has family that are nurses and myself who literally deals with dead people, the numbers do lie. People are still being put under as covid for cause of death when it clearly wasn't, ONLY because they had covid at the time of death. |

I am discussing my point of view nowhere do I say I'm an expert, I will say though, nobody has given a valid answer to my question, plenty of deflection though and blaming others but still awaiting why Nicolas rhetoric of dealing with restrictions depending on the data that she's now lifting restrictions while the data shows covid is getting worse. My opinion is because the moneys dried up. |

Tbf, I do agree not all deaths should have been attributed to covid, but over 2200 hospital beds taken up by covid patients, cmon bud. Surely you can concede that will have a knock on effect to other patients. |

It does, not to the extent that number is tho. 2200 beds arnt used solely for covid, it's people that are there for other things that just so happen to have covid before and during there hospital visit. |

It is widely accepted, except by the people that matter, that the Covid death figures have been grossly exaggerated.
There's a huge difference between those who died WITH it, and those who died OF it.
Have we had any figures of flu deaths during the pandemic? No, they've probably been recorded as Covid!! |

Yawn "
Your point was actually discussed in a previous thread about whether Scotland politics should be in the politics thread or in the Scotland forums and I believe a mod agreed that it was pertinent to Scotland and as such ,that type of subject matter had every right to be where it was .
As your input to the thread was "Yawn" I believe the forum rules state if a topic is not to your taste then you should simply scroll on past.
Clearly you wish to impose persieved rules about politics and ignore the rule of scroll on past. Feel free to join in the discussion though bud, everyone welcome. |

"So wee nippy Nicola has now dropped most restrictions.
So much for the bullshit of being data driven restrictions in Scotland, so much for blaming the UK government about leaving airports open while Nippy is inviting people into her super hub for refugees,so much for doing what's right for Scotland blah de blah.

Your point was actually discussed in a previous thread about whether Scotland politics should be in the politics thread or in the Scotland forums and I believe a mod agreed that it was pertinent to Scotland and as such ,that type of subject matter had every right to be where it was .

So even after apologising and saying I believe she is the best polititian in Scotland your still going to pursue the "adult who lacks a decent education and intelligence " route ? Oh well there's no pleasing some people.
Ps your high ground stance faulters when you incorrectly spell " intelligence " , when trying to berate someone else's education. |

She was quick to play political games during covid while the UK government was handing out constant funds , now the money is gone all the bullshit about Scotland being a front runner in the fight against covid has gone right out the window. I Said all along it was political games she was playing. Proof is in the pudding now.
You seem rather bitter, and very twisted.
Thanks for your contribution, you've really added substance to the discussion. "

This has been the problem all along.
You cannot mix health emergencies and politics.
There is examples of government's all round the world playing this game. The UK and the devolved governments are not alone... Yes I include all the devolved governments, and particularly the one in chief Westminster....as they control the purse strings
Look at Australia, look at new Zealand, look at Canada and the USA... All a huge mess politically.
Will people remember all this at election time? |

The old question used to be am I better off than I was when this government came to power ?
This no longer applies in modern politics, some on here are almost Trumpian in there refusal to see the dismal record of this government, Yes
I mean both sides of the border two amateurish narcissistic leaders with no ideas other than an ability to grandstand and boost their egos |
