Alright? Staying in Edinburgh near the castle at the beginning of Feb.
I'm looking for suggestions for things to do with my older teen children during the day. And some fancy, smancy restaurant reccomendations. Of course I could Google but I thought it best to get some advice from the locals.
Hopefully NS won't impose anymore restrictions! It's not toooooo strict is it?
Thanks x |

The castle is always a good shout and check out the Edinburgh Dungeon, if the kids don't scare easy. Well worth going on the sightseeing bus tours as well. Enjoy! x |

It’s a VERY good walk too and not difficult if you follow the road up and are reasonably fit - and you certainly look fit. |

Also add its not just ghost walking tours, plenty straight history, art and literature ones. Depending on how old the kids are we love the bars and live music in Edinburgh but obviously not very prevalent at the moment. Like bannermans, voodoo rooms, sandy bell, jazz bar and the one next to it. |

A climb up the Scott monument in princes st gardens always a good experience.
Food wise depends on budget and culinary preferences. There are hundreds of good restaurants.
Fave 2 at the moment are Baba for a real different dining experience Middle East food or Fazenda if your a meat eater.
George street has some amazing restaurants and can’t fault any of them. |

Tapa in Leith is a great restaurant if you like spanish food. If not, there’s a ton of other great places to eat in the area, and less tourists to compete for space with.
A wee walk in Dean Village is nice, if they’re into castles there’s also Craigmillar which looks like a child’s drawing of a dragon infested castle. |

"National Museum if Scotland is close to the castle and free. Good for the kids and you can spend hours there.
The museum is great but you need to precooked tickets to go even though its free "
Is there a particular recipe to follow to precook the tickets? |

Witchery is overrated & overpriced. |

You’d need to walk up since cars are blocked off from the top road now. Also cars can’t go into the Holyrood park at all Saturday/Sundays.
Nice restaurants in Stockbridge.
Museum in Chambers Street is always a good one if weather is bad and central too |

My favourite Edinburgh attractions are the late night ghost tours. Check out City of the Dead, Mercat Tours, and Auld Reekie tours.
Camera Obscura is also great. |
