Ok..no idea how this could actually be implemented and I'm not talking about a black and white photo or subtle changes. I mean completely distorting what you look like. Folk bang on about getting face pics before a meet but if someone has made themselves look almost recognisable with a filter then what's the point in a face pic? |

That happened to me some years back. He looked nothing like his profile pic, which was his face pic. Just don't see the point as to why an up to date pic can't be given x |

We seen the very old face pic scenario which is 10 years and 4 stone out of date. We always do a social meet first. If they’ve been seriously doctoring their photos then there won’t be a second meet.
Social meetings do cut out a lot of this nonsense.

Yeah I don't get why anyone would send out a photo that looks nothing like them, whether its filters or really old photos especially when your gonna meet them. I've only ever had the really old photos thing happen to me before on here but more and more people seem to be using filters. |

What happened miss muff, Brad Pitt turned up looking like shrek. ? Hope you gave him a sympathy shag for at least turning up. "
Something like that. Can you imagine how ugly the poor cnut must be who steals one of your face pics as a better option? |

They should be banned on all forms or meets & dates sites. You know I’ve never said to myself “you know what would make a woman more attractive? Some dog ears” |

Always meet the first time in a busy public venue and if whoever is not what was advertised walk away, its difficult to check everyones pics for being accurate as to what they look like, the mark one eyeball is the best judge |

Not a fan of "Snapchat" style filters in any way.
I once put a status up about it, and the backlash I got led to me blocking a few people.
With some cases it's as bad as using someone else's picture.

I know a girl that i used to work with who is the biggest catfish of all time she puts selfies up on FB occasionally and every time I think who the fuck is that? She looks amazing in them using the same pose and a similar filter and in reality to be kind she doesn’t look anywhere near as good |

Aye filters are a difficult one people don't look anything like their pics these days. I think if you agree to meet someone should send a live pic with no filters. Not as if you can turn up in real life with a filter on unless you where puppy ears on your head |

As an older, natural couple we feel sorry for some of the younger generation who have no idea what the "real" woman behind the photo looks like. (not all but some)
False hair, bloated lips, filler, botox, eyebrows, soft focus, tanning, make up, bust and bum job, tattoos.
If one were to ask us for a shag we would be tempted to say "throw it here" |

Was working with a lassie before Xmas, only 20. Gorgeous skin, not a blemish although she was fond of a sunbed so that will catch up at some point. She was getting botox for her Xmas. I know the mantra is "do what makes you happy" but can't help but feel a wee bit sad that we never appreciate what we have. Especially at bloody 20! |

What about pics of women clarted in makeup, flawless skin and contouring, completely changing the way they really look, dunno if it's the same but deceiving nonetheless, is that a type of catfishing? |

Mmmm...dunno...I'm fond of a wee bit of war paint but folk still recognise me without it. That falls under "enhancing" our looks rather than presenting a completely different image IMHO |

"What do you mean filters?
You telling me all those bunny ears aren’t real? Wtf what sorcery is this?
Nah i agree filters are lies, but with a camera. "
The ones that totally iron out every imperfection on the face too. Was meaning those rather than the animal ears |

Snapchat filters that morph your face are shit, so I’d agree with that.
However there’s nothing wrong with filters that improve/correct the colours of a photo. |

I think this is a very toxic attitude to have. If someone wants to get something done to improve or correct something they don’t like about themselves then they absolutely should be able to do so without any judgement. I think some people don’t realise that girls who do this aren’t doing it for other people, but for themselves. If getting a boob job is going to help someone feel more confident in themselves then we should all be supporting it. |

Up to a point, yes. Why is a cosmetic procedure making someone feel more comfortable though? Because we're bombarded with images telling us that's how we're supposed to look. I think there is undeniably a pressure to look a certain way (insta look for example) that simply didn't exist 10 or 15 yrs ago. And then everybody seems to morphe into everyone else and there's no individuality. |

Banning the use of filters is never going to happen.
Banning the use of 10+ year old photos is never going to happen.
There are people on this site who use other people's face photos to get a social meet, you report them and nothing happens. Months later them and their fake photo is still here. |

Agreed. Same male profile uploading full face pics of a woman (he's not even in the picture), report each one and nothing gets done |

That happened to me on PoF. Many years out of date and his pic was a few stones lighter. Then he had the cheek to ask why I didn’t want to meet up again. When I told him I don’t think he realised he’d changed that much. One of the reasons I ask for a social meet. |

Those kind of make me raging haha. When their face is so smooth it’s blurry or look like a doll. |

Happened to me a few times too. Especially with covid. If someone gained some lockdown weight maybe just be upfront about it and show recent photos. |

I still like a good sc filter for fun but dating profiles or anywhere else what you see is what you get au natural 10-1 make up, perhaps cause I rarely ever wear make up you get me just as I am cause I’m too lazy, now if I was to wear make up daily I’d defo be a good hard 8 every time I reckon cause I do scrub up very well |

This has been a really good read actually and il sit my usual tongue in cheek humour to the side for a min, just for this one time as I was speaking about filters today at lunch.
I think it’s hard for us all with the way society is to try and feel attractive but this is only enhanced by the existence of filters. I feel for anyone who feels they need to upload a filtered photo rather than one of them as ultimately they are, most probably, setting themselves up for a fall. Same for those who use old photos, someone above highlighted a date on PoF where the guy did this and he understandably didn’t get a second date.
There’s so much pressure on both guys and women on what is fat, what is thin, old, young, attractive and unattractive so I understand why people use filters and old photos but unless we swap normal face pics it’s a no from me.
I would say though, for those who maybe don’t have the self confidence to upload pics of themselves without filters, being on sites like this is playing with fire as people can become abusive about appearances etc.
I see Botox and fillers being mentioned above and those aren’t the same things as using a filter on photos. There’s a huge difference, if a person wants to have botox or a cosmetic procedure done etc, they can have that done as they have the human right to make their own lawful choices. Fair enough some people don’t like it by their personal preferences but you can’t relate banning filtered photos to having a cosmetic procedure without sounding a bit OTT.
Ultimately, for those who think they need filtered photos to meet people, those are the wrong people to meet in the first place. We are all fine as we are, fuck the filters! |
