I agree with the above ladies' comments. I'd say that being on here and choosing this lifestyle is an escapism for a lot of people whatever your problems may be outside of Fab life x |

"A couple women I have spoke to have mentioned some of the abuse they get if they say no ..words can affect people "
Yes they can spit the dummy out and give abuse , just like a 5 year old stamping it's feet, dosnt make it Mental health bud.
You could say every football fan on the planet suffers Mental health as they give the opposition or the ref abuse all the time. These things don't equate to Mental health. |

I'd agree with everything said.
Why? Based on my interactions with people. The anonymity of the site mean people can open up a lot more and there's something about confiding in a complete stranger. I've had folk tell me about self-harming, ongoing substance abuse, even thoughts of ending it all.
There are some lonely people on here. So whilst I can be a wee boot, I try to show some awareness. |

My issue with these comments is not the use of mental health issues people have , it's more to do with the wording being used and agreed with . Comments like "plenty of people on here " and "escapism for a lot of people" I agree but its a minority of people in my opinion, where do we stop ? Someone can't take a knockback on the chin, oh he/ she must have mental health issues . Give me peace ffs.
It's an over used excuse for many people nowadays, by the way , I'm not the only person thinking like this. I have a friend who is a mental health practitioner in a hospital and she says the same. |

I would agree with you on that.
The "fab diagnosis" from many is incorrect, and shows the poor level of understanding regarding mental health issues.

There's one thing for sure. There's an "expert" for everything on fab. It's generally always the same person too!
Stay well folks and seek help if you are struggling with health issues. In all aspects of your life. The answer isn't on a site like this however. |

It's just a shame that this "expert" seems to think that it's acceptable to call others out on their opinions |

Don't worry , there's loads of random nonsense gets posted on here that can't be explained away. May as well chalk that up to mental health too. |

It's funny how people get their knickers in a twist when all I asked was what makes them think that about other Fab members. Only response I've had so far is because someone can't take a knockback and someone else was merely speaking about their own situation of escapism. |

1 in 4 of the Uk population will suffer from mental illness, so it's safe to assume that applies to Fab, at minimum 1 in 4 of those on the site will be suffering a mental illness.

Kat your actually contradicting your own post. You never escaped into Fab like you claimed others may do but "escaped into yourself rather than Fab"
Now I'm really confused |

Is that stats during their lifetime, or during their time whilst on Fab ? Because theres a huge difference, using that stat to assume 1 in 4 people on Fab will be suffering mental health issues is so misguided is unbelievable. |

Zest you always nitpick or try start arguments over peoples different opinions, it's neither clever or attractive, people are allowed to have their own and not be wrong or right. Look at the stats if you're struggling to comprehend mental health.

Fyi, I did not contradict myself as I don't use Fab to "escape". I merely said that maybe other people do. We're all different and are on here for different reasons x |

I'm most certainly not trying to knit pick , be clever or attractive, I'm simply challenging an opinion I don't understand. It's entirely your right to have an opinion just as its my right on an open forum to question it. Remember, I never even disagreed with your opinion I merely asked you to explain why you thought that. Your response was you couldn't be arsed. But I get branded names and of being an expert , go figure. |

You can't apply those statistics to FAB. There are to many variables.

"Manic Depression V Social anxiety.
? . I ain't living behind walls .
But would love views "
Manic depression I'm sure gets called bipolar disorder these days. It's a mental disorder that causes unusual shifts in mood, energy, activity levels, concentration, and the ability to carry out day-to-day tasks. There are different types of bipolar though.
VS
Social anxiety disorder, is usually a long-term and overwhelming fear of social situations.
My view about people understanding mental health is not enough people do understand, I think you can only fully get it if you have been through it yourself. Though you can educate yourself via mental health charity pages, podcasts, social media mental health pages, etc.
I know mental health was bad enough before the pandemic, and if anyones watched Dr Alex's documentary recently about mental health with children it explains alot about the waiting lists and how we are failing children in the UK.
Adult mental is just as bad possibly worse and in crisis.
Both need to do more, I do hope more can be done, it's heartbreaking for the person going through it and there loved ones.
