Have you seen the hotel prices in Glasgow and Edinburgh during COP 26, £345 for the holiday inn express Edinburgh for a Tuesday night, think I will pass.

Prices are shocking. We booked in to a hotel on Saturday night (booked and paid well before) however we check to see how much the hotel was and they had slapped and extra £135 onto the price we had already paid |

Happens every time there is a big event, hotel prices rise. Normally I'd moan at the exploitation but given how hard the industry has been hit in the last 18 months I'd say good on them!! |

We booked that hotel a few months back, walked in, jumped on booking.com and walked straight back out! Lost out on £130 but the state of the room was shocking, I wouldn't even put my mother in law in there |

I’ve rented two of my houses to media companies for a month.
Cashing in has allowed me to invest in a local business and save five jobs and hire two more.
Personally I don’t have an issue with legal and moral capitalism. If the hotels can make the money that pay the wages of local people the money stays local |

"You want shocking?
Check the EasyHotel prices.
Last time I checked it was £238 for a single room with no window for one night.
£238 for a room barely bigger than the bed and toilet unit."
Very expensive for an exceptionally claustrophobic room too! I'd never use those again! |

"Supply and demand my friends, supply and demand.
"
This^^^
Edinburgh has approximately 1,000,000 hotel bedrooms available. We know through years of having the fringe and xmas festivals that if you don't book 6months in advance you'll pay for a hotel room at 3times the standard price.
If we bring people up for training, they end up in hotels in Fife!!
Same thing happened with the commonwealth games and major sporting events.
Supply and demand. As the hotel fills the room price elevates.
It's business... |

Seemingly b&b are going for a grand in the Glasgow area, hotel prices are affected as far as Newcastle.
And they have brought in 2 cruise ships for the workers to stay in on the Clyde |

I’m working at the event and thankfully my employer paid for my room. Staying in Lanarkshire so we have to drive in every day which is really good for the environment
I’m looking to hopefully meet when I’m on rest days - just saying |
