Can annoy me slightly but not an immediate turn off. Certainly wouldn't stop me talking to someone.
I find the overuse of "Lol" and "pmsl" far more irritating. |

Yes not just here though
I recently wrote a review for a series of books I read on my Kindle.
Sure the series I would have given maybe a 6 out of 10 however, it was riddled with spelling and grammar errors
Considering the author is Scottish, why did he have to use USA English to write his novels.

"I just wish they'd invent a punctuation mark... Such as a semi-colon... Which signifies a slightly longer pause than a comma... But not quite as much as a full stop..."
Is that a dig, ya wee fanny? |

It does tend to show age and maturity and I cringe but it shouldn't stop you meeting people. Everyone has faults. |

Language is a living, growing thing and in my opinion communication by the written word on an informal platform such as Fab benefits from the nuance and emphasis colloquialisms and text talk can bring. However if a sentence contains hardly any vowels and is difficult to understand then I do find it off putting… so jist gonnae no dae that… |

Och!! There are more important things in life to worry about than spelling errors
Guilty of it myself as text too quick and to lazy to go back re read and correct at times
Nothing wrong in a bit of swaheelly language at times to give you a wee giggle |

Grammar and spelling are important to me from the point of view that I try to maintain a certain standard for MYSELF. I would never judge anyone for mistakes. I've made plenty of howlers myself over the years.
However, as written communication is the first contact (usually) on here a badly worded message full of inaccuracies might make me wonder if I would have any flow of conversation with the sender.
Lots of people say they want to chat but sadly don't know how to communicate effectively.
Feel free to check for errors and inform me accordingly. |

"Is it just me that finds badly spelld proffiles an imediate turn of?"
If I find I'm having difficulty reading a profile then I'll simply stop and move on. It's not really a turn off per se, but I simply don't have the time to try and decipher what someone has written and what they mean by it. |

I am not perfect, neither am I a best selling author.
Just gets my back up when one earns a lot of cash for badly writing a series of books about a city where I live in and he can’t even get
a) The correct city dialect correct
b) Uses US/English on his Microsoft Word
Not the first so called Scottish author I’ve read with the same basic errors

I do have a laugh sometimes at the spelling and punctuation mistakes, not in any bad way though. It's only because I have always been able to see mistakes like these. Having a trained eye now that I've completed a Diploma in Proofreading makes me notice it more now and obviously it's changed the way I read a book now. I wouldn't call anyone out on their spelling mistakes on here, it's really not that important on a profile x |
