actually NO I am not Bi or Gay but if you actually looked at the terminology your answer is there. A gay guy goes with guys alone, a Bi guy goes with both women and men and gets satisfaction from both sexes, same as a women who is married who likes to try a female is not a lesbian but experiencing the other sex and therefore Bisexual.........grow up and sop being neanderthal in this century, if you wish to confirm your own heterosexual macho self then keep silly uneducated remarks to yourself, I am speaking from an experience of having both gay and straight friends..........

Let me try to clear this up, 'gay' doesn't mean what the slang term would have you believe, it actually means 'homosexual' when applied as an adjective, 'homosexual', from the latin 'homo-' meaning 'same' and '-sexual' refering to sexuality, means someone who exclusively has sex with members of the same sex. 'bisexual' ('bi-' being latin for 2) means having sex with both. Individual sexual acts can be described as being homosexual or hetrosexual but it doesn't define the sexualities of the participants. I.e a man can have a homosexual encounter with another man before going to have sex with a woman, each act is either 'gay' or 'straight' but the *man* is 'bi', hope this clears this up... |

I have plenty of gay friends and their take on it is that you're only gay if you're attracted to the same sex.

Does sexuality scale sound better ? Whatever scale you call it - I look upon sexuality scale as a bit like the PH Scale - if my chemistry is right it went from PH1 acid through PH7 neutral up to PH14 alkaline. So chemicals are all on the same scale but chemical formula (sexual preference) determines positioning on the scale. That was the point I was trying to make. Who would have thought O-grade chemistry would find its way onto a swinging forum. |

I dont think its a sliding scale at all.
If you only want sex with the opposite sex, and only seek these encounters, then you're straight.
If you are happy to have sex with both sexes, and seek these encounters out then you're bisexual
If you only want sex with the same sex, and only seek these encounters, then you're gay.
And now to cover some arguments that will be thrown at me.....
A woman having a lesbian experience to please her partner, that she enjoys at the time but would not otherwise seek out is straight.
A man/woman trying out a same sex encounter to see if they enjoy it is just experimentation which everbody does. If however you've experimented 50 times then you'll be bi. Assuming you still have both sex encounters of course.
Guys who go with TV's are Bi even though they don't admit it. We're men dressed as women nothing more. Most guys who profess to be straight and want TV's just want someone vaguely feminine to fuck and blot out the fact that we have dicks so as not to damage their own self image.
I'll admit to some ambiguity with guys who like proper Transexuals as they are women in the wrong body until the surgery.
I don't believe it has anything to do with if you want a relationship with someone of a particular sex. It's just about wether
you're happy having sex with them or not.
But I'll probably get in trouble now for labelling people, as the PC police will say it's not allowed. But labels are only bad if used negatively. |

I find it a bit depressing that in 2012 we're still having conversations like this.
Sexuality is a bit like hair colour - at either end of the spectrum there might be jet-black or purest white, but there are many, many shades in between. For practical purposes it gets split into a few categories - dark-haired, fair-haired, red-haired - but in truth there are thousands of variations. If you've got brown hair and give blonde a try, it doesn't make you a blonde, it makes you someone with brown hair who's trying another shade.
So the moral of the story is that there's no point in pigeon-holing into the same old categories because it doesn't tell the full story. A lot of people find their needs are fulfilled by one gender. A lot of people don't. Simples! |
