Glasgow Gym Recommendations
Jump to: Newest in thread
Thought would be worth checking if anyone has Glasgow gym recommendations on here as the forum is full of questions about everything and anything.
I cancelled my membership due to lockdown then WFH. Looking to start again but not sure which are currently too busy right now, or any especially working hard for distancing/cleaning?
Any members on here PT's? Would be good to support the community!
I'm sure someone will have an issue with me posting this, but hope they just move along and enjoy their day. |

Where are you based is probably the first thing to know and if you have access to private transport as that might rule out a few places.
Places like PureGym and The Gym Group will always be busy because of their cost.
If you don't mind paying a bit more, Anytime Fitness, David Lloyd, Virgin might be something to look into.
You can join Glasgow Club which is really good because you can use any of their gyms and they have varying degrees of business and equipment.
Do you just want to go in and do a work out then leave or do you want to swim, have access to the spa etc.
Loads of things to consider. |

Wow that was a lot of detail thanks! I think a PT would be a good shout so would rather my money go to someone in this community if possible.
Anyone using a city centre one? Are they heavy busy again? |

I use the JD Gym in Renfrew. Pretty good with lots of equipment. It's got cardio, weights, boxing and a wee mini crossfit part if that's your thing.
The Glasgow North and South JD's have a sauna in them too. |

In the west. |
OP does your council have any gyms? My council does and they are based in secondary schools, the only downside is they are only open at night.
I go to the Gym Group, it's open 24/7. It isn't the best as it can get quite busy about 4:30ish but it has quite a lot of equipment. You can suspend your membership at any time. |

I go to Glasgow Club. Its less than £30pm and I have access to all the gyms they have. The different classes are good and the gyms I've been to so far, kelvinhall, Emirates, bellahouston etc are all well-equipped. |

I'm currently using PureGym. £10 a month but restricted access between 3-9 which is fine by me because too busy and I prefer to go before 6am then head to work. Just a case of finding what suits you time wise and what equipment you mostly use |

Both are 24hrs i prefer quieter times so go either at night or very early hrs of the morning |

Has this relaxed or do you still need to book in for everything. Think I'd be up for a more budget one but I like the idea of the odd swim. |

For the gym, I just roll up and beep in and it's normally quite enough for me to get round my sets without any problems.
Need to book the swimming and I assume you probably need to book any classes but they have an app you can book in on. Not the greatest app but manageable and the staff are pretty good |

Might try JD as it is free until the end of the year.
Anyone else who goes there and would like a gym buddy message me. Nice to find a community at a new gym! |

"We would recommend David Lloyd's gym x
I've been hearing they are not heating their pools anymore? Is that true?"

"Gonna start the new year right by trying JD Gyms. Looks good quality, nice price. Anyone looking for a gym buddy or go there already send me a wee message!"
I joined JD two weeks ago, only done classes so far but need to book a session with a pt to use the machines and weights. |

"Signed up to Puregym, like being able to use the different ones and a little discount with my work. Mainly going to be trying either EK or Motherwell, anyone else use them?"
Used them a few times as it works great being able to use multiple ones. |

"Prolife Gym in Paisley is phenomenal!
Is that a muscle pro gym or regular?
It’s a bit of both actually, there is something for everyone in there!
Does it still have the big hot tub/pool area????"
Yes, it has a heated Japanese pool, a sauna & a steam room. |

Yeah I love classes. Makes things more structured and pushes me. Love Les Mills ones. |

Sounds incredible. Love a gym with spa facilities. Makes the workout even more worth it |

"Anyone tried JD Gyms?"
I’m at a JD Gym, I really like it but I wish they’d turn on more lights as it’s always a little dark. They don’t tend to have a decent close grip PD attachment.
£20 with no joining fee, can’t beat that. |

Seen pictures of the spin rooms and the blue light looks so dark and intense, reminds me of the lights used in St Enoch centre to stop people shooting up haha |

I've just moved to Glasgow, the Gorbals. Which one do people recommend?
Also, I would be interested in taking up footie again, but do you know if they do like 5 aside for disabled people anywhere? Since my hip replacement I can't kick with power without being in agony |

Have you tried JD Gym? Not too far from Gorbals. |
