"You’ve got the Falkirk wheel and the kelpies (Helix park) near by which are nice if the weather is kind.
A"
Thanks
The kelpies are on our list to visit already.
Hoping to drive around and visit a few places using the hotel as a base. |

The Kelpie's are wonderful to see day and night all lit up. Callander Park in Falkirk is well worth a visit. Beautiful grounds to walk round and I would think that the house and cafe inside will be open now x |

You’re not far from Edinburgh & South Queensferry is lovely!! There is a fabulous bar/restaurant called Orocco Pier with an outside area where you can sit & look at the Forth Road Bridge, you can do a boat tour to Inchcolm Island (you don’t have to get off & tour), a fabulous ice cream shop & the Boe Gin head office/shop. We were there on Sunday.
The Kelpies are amazing - you used to be able to do a tour inside them & there is The Falkrirk Wheel. You could even head to St Andrews or walk the falls of Dollar up to Castle Campbell.
Not far from Glasgow either.
It’s a great base.
We love it up there!! Have fun x

From Falkirk you've got really easy access to Glasgow and Edinburgh if you fancy a day of not driving. Could book something in or go site seeing. Trossachs national park is only about 40 mins as well so plenty to do up there but you've got access to the whole central belt! So much choice. Could pop down south Lanarkshire way for some pretty walks, castles and ruins a plenty if that's your thing |

Should defo do a trip round to Loch Lomond and perhaps as far as Oban best to go counter clockwise to miss the commuting traffic
Falkirk, Stirling, balmaha, balloch, arrochar, rest and be thankful, inverary, Lochgilphead, Oban, tyndrum, crianlarach, Callander Stirling Falkirk
That would be my choice or all day road trip early start and home late so you pick up the kelpies in the dark
Or if you wanted to add another night book somewhere in Lochgilphead, tarbert or get the ferry to portavadie marina for the night, or Oban for an overnight as well good deals and eeusk restaurant on the peri is some of the best seafood in Scotland amazing menus |

"Last I heard you couldn't get in loch Lomond because of a water borne parasite, but there are so many other lochs (closer to Falkirk) that are just as pretty and safe for swimming "
You can get in the water but yes there is a parasite at the minute there’s been a few cases but there’s also been a lot of folk in it who haven’t caught anything |

Sorry I wouldn’t recommend the Orocco Pier. There are better places to eat. It’s only the location that make OP attractive.
There’s a couple places in & around Falkirk, Canalside Inn & the Canadian Barn (may have changed name) if you like whisky try Deanston just near Doune |
