Hello, we are sort of new around here, joined a year ago and then 2020 happened. We got to visit CJ’s once before everything closed.
I’m really shy, (I’m the Mrs) like painfully shy, so taking this huge step and coming to say hello and to ‘meet’ a few others, maybe make some friends before things open up again |

"Hiya. Welcome.
Good on you for finding the confidence to say hi despite your shyness. "
Thank you! It’s really nerve wracking saying hi somewhere with established friend groups, thank for for welcoming me!
I’m ridiculously shy, it’s a pain. But I’m working on it |

We’re in the same position. Made it to CJs once then everything locked down. We’re being cautious about getting back out there, as we’ve both only had one vaccination so far. We also have a degree of shyness/social anxiety, so it’s gonna be a slow process. But hello to you! |

Oh, I can bet you now if we ever met in a club I am a million times more awkward/shy than anyone you’ve ever met I try and play it cool as well ha!

My ex who wasn’t really into the whole fab thing but had joined because he went on a fab weekend met with his pals to Liverpool and we met through the following year trip planning was one of the worst people you could meet for social anxiety, the amount of times I’d end up dropped at the door to Cjs and he would go back to hotel alone was unbelievable but get a few drinks and “Barry” would come out lol his alter ego lol was the nickname he got after one fellow fabber mistook him for wee Barry bow tie and let’s say when my ex was sociable sometimes hilariously so xx thing is he was never made to feel bad about it and no one ever pushed him, there’s a healthy amount of respect for the most part on fab |

Haha maybe I should get an alter ego?!
I’ve always been shy, my husband is one of those - confident in any situation - kind of people, he’s an amazing support for someone as socially anxious as I am. I’ll keep working on it |

1st meet was just a hello while out, the second was an actual meet and I have never been more nervous in my life, like I said - working on it
Socially awkward, ridiculously shy but so ready to give everything a go, I barely spoke the first time I went to a club haha! |

Hopefully when things reopen you'll get along to some socials etc. Good luck

I am 99% sure you are the first couple we ever spoke to in CJs, I was nervously sat on the sofa in a pretty dress. And you said I gave off school teacher vibes
You were both really lovely! And assured me how nervous you were too, you both made our night being so lovely! |

I'm really shy too, have been through loads of therapy for social anxiety. When I was married I'd often have to get my husband to do the shopping as I couldn't even go into a shop.
We broke up just over 5 years ago and I've now started coming out of my shell finally at 41 years old. Not met anyone on here yet though as I'm most too nervous and self conscious especially after my recent weight gain and of course the joys of ageing and having a mum tum.
Keep putting my profile to hide as don't even know how to reply to people here without making myself sound dumb. Glad I'm not the only shy one here. |

I’m so happy it’s not just me! So many here and in clubs are so confident, which is amazing.. and here’s me having a panic attack first time we went to a club, so I’m right there with you!
I’ve had kids too, I hear no one bothers about the mum tum, my husband certainly doesn’t mind but I think having it out infront of strangers might be nerve wracking. Well done for saying hello |

I wouldn't worry so much about aging, a mum tum or sounding dumb (I'm a poet it would seem) a lot of the interest in here is being able hold a conversation like a normal human being, alot of people on fab struggle there, so your already doing well from what I've seen |

I would love to go to cjs when it can open up properly without social distancing. Not sure I'll ever get the courage to do it though. It all depends on my mood, sometimes my nerves make me talk incessantly and I have literally no control over it
I've been nicely surprised at how lovey everyone on this site has been.

It's been easy to talk here as everyone has been so nice, I can clam up face to face and that's a huge worry for me. I'm just continuing to take my time and I've been loving the forums.

I had seen, but didn’t want to be stupid and ask what a social only was, is that just drinks/chats?
It’s a bit of a drive from ours, so wasn’t sure if it was worth the drive until it was open properly, thank you |

What a horrible, unnecessary comment for someone to male, I hope you realise this guy probably set out to just make comments to bring people down and it had no bearing on you personally! |

No need for comments like that and if ever you fancy a night at Cjs there’s usually always at least one pre Cjs get together going on around town or even in the car park for newbies
The lovely Mrs volunteered up to meet my pal a few weeks back for his first time as I’m not well enough to be venturing out and he’s been twice now and thinks it’s super friendly and everyone really easy going |

I would love to go to cjs, this is my goal. I want to go once all restrictions are lifted though,I may not feel ready to play the first time, but I want to have the choice and think if I manage to build up the courage to go then I will play.
A meet beforehand or even meeting someone to walk in with sounds like a fantastic idea.

Yeah I've always thought meeting with someone or a social before a club would be a great plan
