No it's not a sexual fetish. This post is a little more serious than my usual posts and aimed at those who love a good read.

We recently 'discovered' a new author who has become a favourite: Caimh McDonnell.

His books are very amusing with a very unlikely 'hero' but so good. If you like Christopher Brookmire but with a very Irish slant, you'll enjoy these.

Anyone got any other recommendations?

My first ever read as I embarked on my first ever job at 15yo.

Mixed political ideology if that’s your bag.

I studied political philosophy at uni many years ago so I'm not against that kind of thing. However, if I'm looking for a leisure time read I prefer a novel.

I love me some Marian Keyes . I’ve loved every book I’ve read by her so far. Most of the other books I read are more (young adult) fantasy - like the All Souls Trilogy by Deborah Harkness and The Mortal Instruments series by Cassandra Clare.

I'm a big fan of Colin Bateman.

There's a lot of dark humour in his works, again with an Irish slant.

I'd also recommend Neil Gaiman to anyone who hasn't come across American Gods

Terry Pratchett!

Still to read Erin Morgenstern's Starless Sea but love The Night Circus. Also need to circle back round to the Rivers of London books.

Or for a kinkier slant The House of Dark Delights series or The Glass Books of the Dream Eaters trilogy. For pure erotic fluff Anita Blake's Merry Gentry books.

I'm partial to a Jodi Piccoult for some fiction which makes you question your ethics and beliefs.

Marian Keyes is an easy read. I love Karin Slaughters earlier books too for some gritty crime fiction.

Away to start reading 'The Subtle Art of not Giving a Fuck' tonight.

Although in all honesty most days my reading consists of 72,000 'That's Not My...' books and a dozen renditions of 'The Very Hungry Caterpillar'

I'm reading Val McDermid at the moment. A good crime series so far but may switch back to historical stuff from Conn Igguelden or Bernard Cornwell next. I do enjoy a series to come back to.

Does anyone else have a kindle full of books that were free or on offer that they'll probably never get through?

Well I’m now in a serious non fiction frame of mind, so I’m starting on The History of Philosophy by AC Grayling - somehow I don’t think this will be reviewed by Richard and Judy’s Book Club !!!!!!!
