"If you mean the mobile "who's nearby" thing, I'll def be opting out."
Yh that's what I mean I'm still on the unsure decision as it could be gd or bad |

"Not me, just found out my GPS pinpoints the street I am in, so no chance!!!"
Yeah the GPS on your phone/ipad does that, but I believe the app wont use the GPS data down to that level.... probably just be the local town etc

"I believe the app wont use the GPS data down to that level.... probably just be the local town etc" Hmm - not much use if yer in a closed knit community then. And if it only goes down to city name, no much use either - glasgow is a big place. Lol

I've noticed a lot of people will opt out of it. So is there any point of having it and if so why it would just be the same as browsing if it's only going to name a town or city u live in |

It says summer but wasnt that the 18th of May at around 1pm? im sure thats when summer both started and ended and the winter began again
Depends how the feature works. If its ridiculously accurate im opting out as ive already had a guy msg stalk me so giving away my exact location is asking for trouble. If it just gives someone a "within 1mile" type information i might use it but ill wait and see if it happens |

Most of these location softwares only work on the distance parameters ie listing users by distance rather than town etc and by how the fly crows so a guy in the next town from me appears further away that the guy across the water |

I'd prefer an "opt in" rather than it being there for all with an option to "opt out"
and if it's used properly then I can switch it on whenever I wanted to! |

I'm sure it's a similar setup on other phone's, would be a nice change though to be the hunter instead of the hunted so will take up your kind offer |

I think it's a great feature , but suggest it is only available when u 'browse' as a temporary opt in feature. I do like the idea of being in , say , a car park or hotel/pub and being able to communicate with likeminded horny fuckers!!!! |

I use a similar feature on another app and it just gives you "username 1 mile" Just gives you some idea of the distance and is as the crow flies. Never gives exact location. If your GPS is enabled then it's quite accurate but if you turn that off then it relies on which cell tower you're connected to and then it can be roughly a mile out.
I haven't heard of anyone being stalked through use of these services as they never give exact locations. If you're in the only house for miles and you use it then its quite easy to deduce!

I dont know if I'm allowed to mention it, but Badoo already uses this feature with its app.
Its quite good - it just tells you the town the person is in and the distance from you. The lowest displayed number is "1000m" which in old money is almost two thirds of a mile.
I do recall a gay pal of an ex with an app for meeting guys that had the full map thing going on , think thats a bit too public ! |
