One way or the other the plight of Nicola Sturgeon will be decided today by the publishing of the Hamilton Report.

Yip, let's wait and see if his findings we've all to wait for will also be dismissed as partisan and prejudged if they don't go her.

It will just be the same old nonsense. Sturgeon will carry on and the sheep will still vote for her in the May election.

Interesting what is happening in the background though. Seems that 3 members of the SNP NEC have resigned after Peter Murrell refused them access to the party's accounts as there is about £600,000 missing from a ring fenced account.

The problem is, folk like ‘bikerbob’ above have a hatred based on feelings and what football team you support, rather than being able to think objectively. Was always the way and will always be the way.

Let’s compare how the press and the opposition have acted on this matter and compare it with the scandals that come to light each day from Westminster.

Evidence matters. Now, let’s all laugh at the football linesman’s demands that she must go.

Sturgeon has been cleared by an independent enquirer with all the facts to hand but that will not matter to the trolls who persist in vitriol over narrative they have no actual knowledge of and who don’t have the wits to realise that newspaper and online news sources have agendas related to their owners or source of income, not in factual reporting. Ever.

Politics polarise but it’s when the sheep don’t realise they are being herded towards the slaughterhouse of a society being quietly and stealthy introduced while diverting attention to other things like this, that it becomes dangerous.

A barrister by trade, he rose to become the Director of Public Prosecutions for the Republic of Ireland, a role which he held between 1999 and 2011.

He was then appointed by the Scottish Government as an independent advisor in 2011, and also holds the same role for the Welsh Government.

His position is to enable transparency and an independent viewpoint in matters which are perhaps sensitive or need to be handled without the interference of political leanings.

Maybe read up on him instead when dry eyes return.

According to his Wikipedia page he first worked for the SG in 2013 (appointed by Salmond no less) and then was reappointed in 2015 by Sturgeon.

The National states that he was appointed to carry out this inquiry by Sturgeon.

He has clearly worked very closely with her and presumably wasn’t doing it for free (i.e. was on the payroll of a SNP-led government).

Does that make him independent and impartial..?

I think NS has been clever with her evidence to the enquiry, due to this and the fact that the establishment have closed ranks (yes the SNP is the establishment in Scotland) , I really can’t see NS going anywhere.

However, I do think she has been damaged and both her and the SNP will be tarnished for a long time. I doubt that it will make much difference to the SNP diehards. As one of the most worrying trends about this whole issue, is that you if you don’t blindly swallow the “official line” you will be shouted down by The National, or by SNP Fundamentalists.

I think the whole debate could be dialled down a bit (on both sides), but I don’t find replies like “GIRFUY”, in your head rent free, Yoons or nonsense about MI5 plots moving the argument on.

I believe on the whole that the vast majority of politicians in both Westminister and Scottish Parliament have went into politics to make a positive difference ( that includes Nic, Boris, and even Willie Rennie).

I hope we have a hung Scottish Parliament so that all policies from all sides are debated to ensure the best outcome for all. After all the Scot Parliament was designed to be this way to stop undemocratic one party rule.

Dogma and diatribe do not equal debate or democracy.

James Hamilton was an advisor to the SNP a few years ago. He was appointed to his current role by Ms Sturgeon who renewed his contract. His report is heavily redacted and in his covering letter he states that it won't make sense if there are redactions. Apparently 81 of them.

A Tory who has no seat in Scottish parliament simply meddling, Dougie Dross.

A Tory ermine clad Davidson who’s running to the HOL

A Tory who’s failed 7 times to be elected leaking committee to the press. (Alleged) Murdo Fraser.

Will the same tories call for a VONC in Johnson who has broken the ministerial code and even lied to the Queen.

The tories threw everything into this and hearing them scuttle back under their rocks is joyous.

The VONC tonight is nothing more than the last gasps of a failed coup to dismantle Scotland’s parliament with the full onslaught of the British Media.

After tomorrow parliament dissolves and the electorate will be ultimate judge and jury.

Can you really trust anything you hear/read... we are drip fed what others think these days. So called facts and figures are manipulated on social media and news to give results that suit the needs of those that seek money, power and status. Morals are sadly lacking on the needs of both our beautiful planet and the things, people and creatures on it. Worse of all is the bickering and oneupmanship of bigotry, racism and a general lack of empathy for our fellow human beings. More time spent trying to work together solve the problems than fighting over what party did what when and the greed for personal power and money would be nice... unlikely but nice... rant over

Davidson lost every national election to the SNP while she was Scottish Tory leader.

She’s now running to London for the House of Lords scared at the real prospect of losing Edinburgh Central.

Claiming over £300 a day just for turning up of tax payers money.

Dougie Dross has a 100% losing record in Holyrood. He’s not even there yet.

Dross will be gone by Nov and replaced by Fraser who for 20 years has never won an election and bled nearly a million pound in the process.

The king of rejects rewarded handsomely.

Salmond will be issuing a statement after parliament dissolves tomorrow.

If and it’s a big if he’ll say he was cleared in a court of law and Nicola was cleared in due process. Unequivocally.

He has one last chance of unifying the him/her brigade and advocating voting SNP in May.

Or....

He could be a right prick and lose whatever credibility he built up over the years throwing his dummy out and burning bridges all over the place.

Not even I could call which it’ll be or maybe it’ll be none of the above and a curve ball instead.

The only voices not heard in all of this are those of the women who complained of inappropriate behaviour. I think some MSPs are mindful of this but I find it despicable that the women have been forgotten and their anonymity removed.

Far from encouraging women to come forward with complaints against those in high office, it has set back the situation for decades.

Rape Crisis have issued a statement on their behalf.

On the contrary. I'm an embarassed Scot. I'm embarrassed that cult members such as yourself are so ready to turn on your fellow countrymen. I've said it before and I will say it again, until folk like you change your antagonistic attitude then your independence dream will get absolutely nowhere whilst continue to divide the nation. This just looks daft given 3 unionist parties combined with the entire British media tried to take down your first minister and failed.

Only the SNP stands up for Scotland.

"CLEARED!

The independent, non-partisan, investigation led by James Hamilton find that Nic did NOT break the Ministerial Code unlike the clown Johnson, Pritel and Hancock who DID and continue to lie and break ministerial code.

GIRFUY

Is that the independent, non-partisan, investigation led by James Hamilton who was previously employed by the SNP and was appointed to carry out the investigation by Nicola Sturgeon?

Turkeys don’t tend to vote for Christmas...

The whole thing stinks and the SNP are no more trustworthy than the Tories.

Maybe read up on him instead when dry eyes return.

https://www.scotsman.com/news/politics/who-is-james-hamilton-and-why-is-his-report-so-important-to-first-minister-nicola-sturgeons-future-3174136

"

by that logic every civil servant and local government employee in scotland for the last how many years must be an snp supporter since they were technically on the payroll of an snp led government

(ps i dont vote snp but a crap argument is a crap argument)

when it comes to politics you could literally find something about absolutely anyone to try link to bias - wether it be their own politics, in this case their historic employment (although it seems both sturgeon and salmond employed him so if anything that seems even), even if you plucked someone from england with no connections people would say well they dont want scottish independence so thats a bias - at some point you have to trust in peoples professionalism

He was then appointed by the Scottish Government as an independent advisor in 2011, and also holds the same role for the Welsh Government.

His position is to enable transparency and an independent viewpoint in matters which are perhaps sensitive or need to be handled without the interference of political leanings.

Maybe read up on him instead when dry eyes return.

https://www.scotsman.com/news/politics/who-is-james-hamilton-and-why-is-his-report-so-important-to-first-minister-nicola-sturgeons-future-3174136

Does that make him independent and impartial..?

by that logic every civil servant and local government employee in scotland for the last how many years must be an snp supporter since they were technically on the payroll of an snp led government

(ps i dont vote snp but a crap argument is a crap argument)

when it comes to politics you could literally find something about absolutely anyone to try link to bias - wether it be their own politics, in this case their historic employment (although it seems both sturgeon and salmond employed him so if anything that seems even), even if you plucked someone from england with no connections people would say well they dont want scottish independence so thats a bias - at some point you have to trust in peoples professionalism "

Yip you have to.

While the resign resign mob are in full flow, why would anyone with a modicum of sense enter politics.

Its a shite job with shite pay to listen to people tell you constant you are shite.

Place is full of mouths who think politics is an easy ride...Ill leave the politicians to politict same as I leave the mechanic to fix my car ....they know better

"Ruth put back in her box beautifully

Davidson lost every national election to the SNP while she was Scottish Tory leader.

She’s now running to London for the House of Lords scared at the real prospect of losing Edinburgh Central.

Claiming over £300 a day just for turning up of tax payers money.

Dougie Dross has a 100% losing record in Holyrood. He’s not even there yet.

Dross will be gone by Nov and replaced by Fraser who for 20 years has never won an election and bled nearly a million pound in the process.

The king of rejects rewarded handsomely. "

At least at the House of Lords you actually have to turn up to get the money unlike Derek MacKay who went AWOL over a year ago, never to be seen again but still gets a £64,000 salary plus expense and a taxpayer funded grant in May as he will be leaving the Holyrood.

If you are a councillor and don't turn up for 6 months then you get kicked out. Why can't that be implemented for everyone?

Salmond statement released.

INQUIRY FINDINGS MUST BE ACCEPTED SAYS SALMOND

“This is my third and final public statement on the subject of the parliamentary and Hamilton investigations and the Dunlop Review.

The Inquiries are over and despite their manifest limitations, the findings are in and must be accepted, just like the verdicts of juries and the judgements of courts. A year ago, outside the High Court, I said that there was evidence which I wished to see the light of day. Some of that key material, including the government legal advice, eventually emerged through the Parliamentary Committee. Much of it did not. A month ago, I gave public evidence to the Parliamentary Inquiry itself. I called for some in leadership positions to consider their position. It is in the public interest that such action be taken to prevent a damaging erosion of trust in the institutions of government. As the record shows I did not call for the resignation of the First Minister.

I have waited to see the response from those individuals to the publication of the Inquiry reports. Unfortunately, it appears that the clear intention is to carry on regardless. Thus I intend to take two specific actions which emerge directly from the findings of these reports.

First, the Parliamentary Committee has made clear that the catastrophic failures in this matter are not just systemic, but can properly be laid at the door of individuals, and in particular, the Permanent Secretary.

(para 599 Committee Report) I was previously forced to take the Permanent Secretary to the Court of Session over the illegality of her actions and was successful. Despite being found responsible for that unlawful and unfair process and incurring a vast and avoidable cost to the taxpayer of over £600,000 in legal expenses, the Permanent Secretary did not offer her resignation on January 8th 2019.

Now, more than two years later, and despite the most damning condemnation from a Committee in the history of the modern Scottish Parliament, the Permanent Secretary still refuses to accept real responsibility. Instead, the waste of public resources has continued to grow as has the impact on all the people concerned. This cannot stand. I have therefore taken legal advice and will shortly be instructing my lawyers to bring proceedings in the Court of Session arising as a direct result of the conduct of the Permanent Secretary. I hope it is the only legal action that I am required to take.

I have complete faith in the outcome of that Court process, coming as it does with all the proper powers of recovery of documents and thus the ability to properly interrogate those individuals responsible, the absence of which so restricted the Parliamentary Committee. Secondly, the report of Mr James Hamilton makes clear that the question of the leak of the story of the original complaints in August 2018 was not part of his remit but should instead be referred to the Police. The Parliamentary Committee Report was fully condemnatory of that same leak noting the extreme level of damage to all concerned. I agree.

(para 17 of Hamilton Report , paras 408-414 of Committee report) I will accordingly now make that complaint to the Police and allow them to discover who within the Scottish Government was responsible for passing these details to the Daily Record newspaper. I have every confidence that Police Scotland will pursue that matter with rigour.

I intend to make no further public comment on these issues and will leave the police and the courts to do their job.

Instead I intend to move on, just as Scotland should now move on to debate the key election issues before us all, principally economic recovery from the pandemic and the future independence of our country.”

Ends...

Squeaky bum time for the individual who was leaking committee meetings to the daily record.

Can’t disagree with any of the above other than the HOL should be abolished.

“List” seats should carry a maximum 2 term tenure to prevent the likes of Murdo Fraser being continually rewarded for failure.

The difference being that it was not any old civil servant or local government employee in Scotland that was being asked to pass judgement on whether or not NS broke the Ministerial Code.

Instead, it was someone that she personally employed as an advisor and who she presumably worked very closely with.

Personally, the fact that she made the appointment herself doesn’t sit well and I’m surprised that she didn’t go out of her way to ensure that everything appeared 100% independent and impartial.

Ultimately, it is neither here nor there now as the matter is effectively closed.

As has been said before the electorate will now decide what happens next.

"I wonder wit wee ruthies gonna say now.. or she too busy thinking of her title in the Lords ... Baroness hypocrisy

The same Ruth the Mooth who said she’d never work with Johnson ?

Amazing what cronyism does and being made a dame of the English Realm.

A traitor to scotland. Sold out for ermine and gold.

A Scottish voice in the big hoose and they complain Unreal "

Surely your not naive enough to think that Ruth Davidson will actually give Scotland a voice in the House of Lords? lol

The qualified barrister was first appointed as an independent adviser to the Scottish Government’s Ministerial Code in 2013 by former first minister Alex Salmond and reappointed by Ms Sturgeon in 2015.

Yeah, great point. Think it’s pretty harsh to question Hamilton’s integrity here x

I think my point may be being missed here. For me, to appoint someone who you previously employed to advise you and your Government on the Ministerial Code and then ask the same person to decide if you’ve broken it seems like a conflict of interests. I’m not necessarily questioning his integrity however his appointment doesn’t really give me confidence regarding the transparency of the whole process.

Just my opinion.

Others will obviously disagree.

i would say the opposite, someone who advises on the ministerial code knows it inside out - seems like the perfect candidate to assess if it has been broken, unless he was a current advisor and it was his own advice he was assessing

moved to cuckold land

Hamilton has given his Opinion that NS forgetfulness was genuine.

The 9 Committee members gave their Opinion that NS forgetfulness was genuine or not voting purely on a political party basis.

NO EVIDENCE was provided either way to either enquiry.

Therefore another complete waste of public funds.

The 0nly facts were that the mistake the Scottish Govt or leading Civil Servant whoever it was denied these women any real attempt at justice.

If any member of the general public made such a mistake at their work they would face at minimum a disciplinary hearing.

But hey ho seems ALL POLITICIANS are above that.

Please note I have said ALL POLITICIANS before you comment

I agree they will know the MC inside out but that doesn’t negate a possible conflict of interests through the previous associations mentioned. I’m sure the MC isn’t that complicated that another suitably qualified person couldn’t have undertaken the role.

As I say, it’s just my opinion and what I would have preferred to ensure transparency and impartiality that is beyond question.

And that is all you have to do is turn up sign the register then you can jump back in to the same taxi you came in and get to hell away again or you can just head to one of the taxpayer subsidised bars and get pissed while collecting your tax free £300+ or maybe even snooze all day. Which is what many of that unelected outdated mob do.
