My local butchers is very particular about this.
He says it's only Lorne if it follows a certain recipe.
As such you can get Lorne, Square Sausage and Steak Slice from his shop. They're all the same shape, but slightly different colours and tastes.

Steak slice but not really a sausage fan... cooked brekkie for me is Ayrshire bacon, poached egg, tattie scone, fried bread, fruit and black pudding and a wee plum tomatoes. Everything grilled except the tattie scone and bread and definitely NO BEANS |

Definitely no beans!
To be fair I’m happy with a whole packet of bacon on a roll. I don’t think a bacon roll is truly a bacon roll till you have to eat it over a sink |

"I think it all depends where you are from. Wee bit like butteries or rowies or rolls. Or which meat goes in your stovies!
*hides to watch the fall out*
"
Corn beef in the stories for me personally
Butteries are just butteries
Rolls are rolls
Rowies... hmmm I might call them baps |

Colleagues told me that fried onions on a Lorne roll was great, so I tried it, and they were right!
None of the brown sauce rubbish they also mentioned though, tomato or GTFO

I had completely forgotten about a nice bit of Ayrshire bacon. Not had it for yonks, fitted nicely on a roll with a fried egg. Butchers tomorrow when I finish this shift |

"Lorne or square sausage. Never heard it being called a slice before
It was a dundonian who was arguing it was called a slicey "
Yip that's dundee talk. Only a slicey when it's being cooked though. Not what you ask for in the butchers... |

"Is it.... Lorne? Square Sausage? Or Slicey?"
Depends on the quality of the sausage, simples
Cant be doing with supermarket square, has to be fresh from the butchers.
Links, I love a bit of Cumberland sausage.
Failing that the next best sausage is 2 in a MMF |
