Do you take a compliment well ? Or do you just say thanks and say aw it was only a tenner in the sale or blush easily and walk away? Man in supermarket walked past and said Wow you look hot the other night and I didn’t have a response ... then watched me from his car as I got into mine and waved... is that creepy or a compliment ?

How many times have us guys resisted complimenting someone in case it is taken as creepy?

I'm not the best at taking a compliment, usually deflect it or sometimes respond in a totally contradictory way, but I'm trying to learn to accept them graciously.

Not sure how I'd feel about the random stranger thing though, think it'd depend on the circumstances. There can quite a fine line between friendly/flirty and downright creepy sometimes.

In a supermarket, on my own...if a random stranger told me I look "hot" it would be creepy in my opinion.

I've been told my hair is "cool", I look "great", make up is nice...various compliments all well received and appreciated.

The "hot" comment would just be too much and out of place in Asda I think.

I tend to find most folk who usually tell a random stranger they look hot are usually d*unk and have loads of Dutch courage in them or they’re proper cheeky Chappies. However to then sit and watch you from his car now that’s just a bit creepy, is there a chance he maybe knows you from somewhere and has been trying to pluck the courage up and maybe over compensated a little and went full on ? I do try to always think the best in folks

As for taking compliments, sometimes I can take them well especially when I have made an effort. I’m not one for wearing make up or making much effort to dress up but when I do I know I look good but when I’m a mess and haven’t even brushed my hair and got bags under my eyes I look a complete riot and I just brush compliments off as folk trying to be nice

Often I get a whiff of nice perfume breeze past me and think should I say your perfume is lovely. Ask what it is, but refrain incase it’s creepy.

I. Very wary of saying anything and so would avoid this in pretty much any situation.

It reminds me of the day a couple of years ago when I was walking along road into town near my house and a girl was in front of me.

She qaa early twenties, walking a baby in her pram and it was a lovely day. She was wearing little short denim shorts and her arse was just amazing.. I literally couldn't take my eyes of it..!

As we reached the end of the road there was a pedestrian crossing and I was building myself up to compliment her, kept thinking that I had to just say

"what a bum you have"

Or

"can I just say your bum is amazing"....

Unfortunately I couldn't bring myself to do it! So back home for a fantasy wank over it! Lol

That was the best decision in those circumstances

Yip that’s creepy to me.

The fact he was watching you and decided to tell you the next day!

Let me get this straight. You were going about your daily business when u were approached by a guy who commented that u looked good the night before! Then sat and watched u from his car.

I dont think there is any question here.

That man is either on a register or shall be very soon.

CREEP.

A man said something similar to me when I had my two young children with me in the buggy a few years back.

There's a time and a place.

When you're out with your babies is not the time or the place.

No idea, I'm lost. Damn Sat nav!

I must be reading something different to the rest of you as I dont see anything that says he only told her the next day .

Way I see it is he saw a woman who he was attracted to & decided to tell her she was hot !

Once in the carpark they both spotted each other again and exchanged a smile.

Absoloutely nothing wrong in that at all & I think far too much being read into it

I didn't get the "next day" part either.

Suppose I just think telling someone they're "hot" is coming on a bit strong in a supermarket.

Out of the blue and watching you get into your car and waving. Wrong wrong wrong in my opinion.

Sinister

Think it was just poor grammar tbh told her she looked hot the other night

did he say “you looked hot the other night” or was it the other night he said to her “you look hot” I also wondered if she was referring to the other night it happened or he actually was telling her she looked hot the other night

Yes perhaps his choice of words weren't quite right but as I see it it was nothing more than a compliment & when they saw each other in the carpark they simply exchanged a smile

I think in these days of the easily offended, most guys wouldn't think to pay a random compliment to a woman.

A simple comment can be taken out of content as well. It's safer to just say nothing, in the knowledge you don't want to offend.

I take compliments well, smile, say thank you and if there hot.... I’m lucky in a way, I get compliments from both men and women - and both are not flirty or come across as creepy. I do however take I fair deal of time and thought over appearance.

Remember tho, a lot of guys are either lacking confidence or go over all shy when looking at something of beauty.
