I have an Oculus Quest, their first gen wireless one, it's fantastic and since it's wireless, you're not bound by cables to your PC.
Tried the Quest 2 also, graphics are a lot smoother, and the headset overall is cheaper.
Would recommend the Quest 2 if you're looking for something everyone can play with and enjoy since it's wireless and lets you get really immersed in it.
It does have a link up feature to VR ready PCs also, so even if you did want to play PC VR games you still can. It's really the best of both worlds. |

Thx for that Effy, that is the one I'm thinking about. It was pretty awesome the 30 minutes I tried it. Done the boxing game, incredible graphics .

As I type this SjA is deep into squadrons on his Oculus Quest. No wires is definitely a benefit and I really like the new hand tracking advances (your controllers are your hands). We both have been getting into Tetris on the quest as it can be very mediative and a good way to transition away from work after a hard day at the WFH office.
While the new Quest looks good I don’t think there is enough advances to justify buying a new one. SjA on the other hand is counting down the days. I personally would suggest waiting for the new Quest comes out BUT buy a used older quest model for pretty cheap. |

"I have the headset for the PS4. And playing resident evil. Makes the game so much believable and scarier. But I love it. One thing about very tho is u can get motion sickness. "
If its anything like the boxing game I tried , I reckon I would be shitting my pants if we swap the boxing opponent graphics for a zombie opponent.
I was litteraly ducking and trying to dodge the punches as it was so real.
First time I've tried it but wow!!!
Cheers for the comments and advice. |

The new one has been out since the middle of October and at £399 the 256gb version is the same price as the 64gb version of the old one. As far as price and visuals go, (the new one has much less of a "screendoor" effect to it than the first,) it's a no brainer getting the 256gb Quest 2, or if you're not likely to download much stuff, you can go £100 cheaper and get a 64gb version.
The only major downside of the new one over the old is the headstrap is flimsy and uncomfortable, but you can buy a more comfortable straps separately for it anyway. |
