I think that will be determined by how you conduct yourself. I would go in, stay off the booze for nerves, smile and engage with people by speaking to both male and female. Get a connection with someone/couple and hopefully an invite to play may happen. If it doesn't nothing has been lost as hopefully you will have got to know a few people so the next time you go, it's not as daunting.
Good luck and enjoy. |

As already stated by above posters, don't drink too much, if at all. Don't expect to play, if you do it's a bonus. Sometimes there are arranged drinks beforehand, that way you can potentially meet some people before you go so not totally on your own to start with.

It's something I've considered in the past but never done, partly because I'm well aware there will be tons of single guys there, the ratio of guys to ladies / couples will be huge. I wouldn't drink and wouldn't want to be creepy. Cjs is the only one I'm aware of that's local-ish to me so would probably try that one first. Will maybe go to one once this lockdown is over, and hopefully make a few friends, even if nothing else happens |

CJs limits single guys so the place isn't crawling with them, makes it much easier for single guys to engage with females and couples

That sounds promising. Yeah will definitely give it a go after lockdown restrictions go away |

A follow-up question I’ve always wondered about actually - is there a situation where you’d look completely out of place in a negative way based on your age?
I more mean by someone being a bit too young. I’m no spring chicken but I’m wondering whether it’s uncommon for someone who’s 27 to be showing up. |

Nope. Cjs is open to everyone from 18+. There's usually a very wide & varied age range of attendees.
