Why are pubs not allowed to play music but still showing live football?. Men never watch footy quietly.

If its a scotland game thats on, lost guys watch that through the gaps in their fingers, so automatically provide themselves a face covering in doing so. It's the safest way to go to the pub!

I think its something to do with the fact that as soon as there is music there is dancing - or that might just be me

It’s because when music is playing we breathe differently. Well, according to Sturgeon and Leitch anyway.

It's because if music is playing we talk louder therefore the particles in our mouth will spread further and hence spread the virus

Apologies my mistake. Point being crowds watching footy in pubs are usually very vocal.x

I don't think unfair is the right word, but it's definitely a contradiction. I guess the pubs will be shut again soon anyway, the way things are going!!

Yes they are,I just don't think they thought the rules out. Probably a we guy in office who doesn't go to pub when footie is on made them up.

Music or footie is irrelevant, if there are crowds then the pubs are in the wrong and any rules become irrelevant

Football is a boring and overpaid game, especially at the top level. Why can football clubs continue to pay individuals upto a quarter of million pounds a week or month yet they have to pay off the stadium staff on minimum wage?

Most stadium staff aren't employed by the clubs directly. The cleaners, caterers etc are contracted in by 3rd parties

Really puzzling as you can go next door to the Bookies with 10 televisions all blaring away.

"Pubs need some music doesn’t need to be loud just background but required in my opinion "

absolutely

A total ban on music is simply insane as are many of the new rules Scotland is expected to abide by

Some will follow those rules, others with common sense will judge on merit and decide for themselves, exact same as they will still visit family members that they consider safe without waiting to be told "if they are allowed"

I Know my family members take full precautions and I would rather visit them in there own home (taking precautions) rather than visit them in a pub or a restaurant, and no, I am not a family hugger,

the rule makers seen to think every family member cannot resist hugging

and kissing when in a home, then I must be an acceptation.

I will continue to visit my family members in their own homes, my parents would not even consider going into a pub or a restaurant, they never have done even in safe times.

The rule makers live in Cities and have no idea of rural life, suspect they have limited experience on life full stop.

I know some pubs are showing games but one pub I was in said they weren’t as they were told not to so I’m not sure if there is a rule but it is just being broken.

Anyway when lockdown began it was about the nhs not getting over run. The virus will continue to spread until there is a vaccine or herd immunity. Putting measures in place now only delays the virus into the winter again. We should have fully opened up when we built the nightingale hospitals that would allow us to cope and got this over with.

the Scottish government is on its way to bankrupting both business owners and employee's

some will say, ohhh better to be skint than dead from covid-19

really!!! get a grip, yes some will die from covid, same as many die from the flu and other illness and virus

what about elective surgeries being postponed or canceled due to the virus

elective” surgeries could include replacement of a faulty heart valve, removal of a serious cancerous tumor, or a pediatric hernia repair. Often, if these types of procedures are delayed or canceled, the person’s condition gets rapidly worse and can even be life-threatening. This is particularly true with children who are all in an active phase of their life growth and development. The resulting decline in their health could make them more vulnerable to COVID-19.

“A blanket directive to cancel elective and non-urgent procedures usurps the proper role of the physicians caring for patients and their families, collaborating closely with the hospital, to determine what is in the patient’s best interests.

It’s because people tend to raise their voices to speak over the noise which raises the amount of droplets in the air this could increase the risk of COVID. Clearly a lot of thought has gone into this decision. Also it stops Karaoke .... thank you Covid.
