I am booked in for more work next week. Sitting here thinking that there are multiple reasons why I decide I am going to get ink. A few detailed below:
The loss of someone/something
A painful moment in my life
An amazing moment in my life
Something shouts out to me
An itch that needs scratched!
I know people who use it as a form of self harm too.
The majority of times it is to capture moments of my life. Like the old version of the Polaroid where you can go back and look at them and feel the memories. I suppose only people who are into their ink will understand that feeling.
So what makes you get tattooed?

I got mine after coming through a rough few years. To remind me no matter what I can some through anything and be stronger for it.
It took a long time to get the design I wanted and find the right person to do it.. I think it looks amazing ... Really pleased with it . |

Havent got any yet, but has been on my mind for years.
Is the first tattoo always the hardest? I have it in my mind that after the first the rest would come fairly naturally/easier. I may be wrong

I just love them. Mine are all well thought out and for specific reasons. Sometimes just because I think it's pretty. But happy for people to take their own thoughts from them as art is subjective afterall.
I do also enjoy the process of getting something beautiful after some pain. Very therapeutic |

My tattoos, with the exception of two, have no sentimental meaning. They’re just things I love and have loved for years and wanted on my body permanently. This ranges from animals, to music artists and characters from my favourite movies. |

"I think you’ve covered it why we may go for a tattoo but I also like the pain from it. "
Yeah that pain. It's amazing. It is interesting how people's pain thresholds differ. I can handle about 3 hrs max. Then my body goes to a different level where any touch makes me want to punch the tattooist. Then it is just torture. Had to tap out a few pieces as my body just couldn't take any more. I have a fear of white ink now. Those who know, know lol xxx |

It connects me to a moment, to an aspiration, a reminder, to ground me and to connect me (dont laugh) to how we are all connected to the world and the universe we live in. |

Irony here. I love tattoos. I find them both very sexy and aesthetically appealing (good ones that is). But I don’t have a single one myself. The ironic bit is that I’m arty and considered a career change to becoming a tattooist (have books etc). I decided against it because who on earth would hire a tattooist without a single tattoo? Love them but personally the urge to get one or more myself isn’t great enough. |

I have a tattoo on my shoulders and back and when it got to the vertebrae It was very very sore. The worst of all my tattoos. A different pain to any other tattoo. Nearly blacked out twice - |

"Not all the time, scabs can happen even with good aftercare "
There is scabbing and then there is old skool scabs that used to come when people historically got tattooed and used savlon as aftercare lol. The products around now should mean that those sort of scabs should not form xxx |

I bought 2 coil tattoo machines couple weeks ago and everything that comes with it after doing alot of research of the machines. I'm very arty, very steady hand and freehand is good but tracing my own drawings/designs before I go freehand.
Hubby got his first cover up last week, full sleeve to be completed once cover up fully healed, his lower leg to be done in next week after he makes up his mind about design.
I'm busy working on a design for my front thigh, hoping to start it tonight or tomorrow, don't like the pain but the concentration and perfectionist in me will hopefully outway the pain lol.
Live tattoos just not the pain. Its worse than childbirth but I've worked out the least painful parts lol.

My friend was a tattooist and a very good one for years without having a single tattoo
Mine all have meaning but they are exception of a wrist tattoo on my back, they might be out of sight but always with me and I designed all my tattoos and have one more I want to get but in no rush |

K"
This and what I said on the not getting a tattoo thread (oh and the ass cheek thing) |
