Noticing such a massive increase in the number of puppies going about. Are people just buying because they’re stuck in the house just now? And what happens when the world finally goes back to something more normal?

Sadly a lot of these lockdown puppies will probably be looking for new homes in the near future

I think its been a problem everywhere. We usually walk a back road through some woods so we can let him off and we weren't able to for weeks with all these new dogs coming out of no where

People usually use dog walkers when they are working so when it was lockdown they werent working so most walked their own dogs.

Now most folk are back at work their back getting their dogs walked again hence why you think the have all disappeared lol

There will have to be a lot of new dog walking companies set up Also listening to friends who have them that are going back to offices and will either have to organise someone to walk them or they’ll be left for 8 hours+ which isn’t right

The price of puppies has went through the roof since lockdown and also puppy theft.

So be mindful especially if in the countryside

I would like to think that if anyone saw or had reason to believe a dog was being mistreated you would not hesitate to report. Also handy to have your local dog wardens number in your contacts in case you see a stray or injured dog whilst out and about.

No puppy for us. One dog is enough. However we have noticed lots more puppies too.

I wonder if dog breeding has been affected by social distancing too lol.

Well I know people are charging a lot more for puppies now! Some people are charging a grand for Patterdale pups which are classed as mongrels and the price someone I know is paying for a pug is ridiculous

I know a few dog breeders who cant believe the current situation. The puppy trade is ridiculous right now. A previously £400 lab pup is currently selling for £1200-1500. Fuelled by lonely folks being isolated and alone.

Unfortunately this has resulted in the unscrupulous breeders trying to cash in . Using old bitches to breed unregistered pups, mating bitches on their first season, taking third and more litters from her, etc.

The bubble will burst. Most likely this winter if we don't have a second lockdown and there will unfortunately be alot of unsold and unwanted pups dumped on the charities.

There are always going to be people that capitalise on such situations!
