My friend and I are going over to Edinburgh in a couple of weeks. We have our tours tickets etc all booked and sorted but can anyone recommend a few good pubs for the evenings? Also somewhere that does good cocktails thanks

Edinburgh

I've heard from several people that Bramble is brill, however it's still closed amongst the crisis. This sister bar of The Last Word is still open however, but it's not exactly central. It would likely be a taxi trip to it, as from Princess Street it's basically downhill, and the walk back after a few drinks may not be the best.

Yes you need to book into most bars/restaurants. Many have now started taking deposits of between £25/£40 to ensure you show up. X

Depending on whereabouts you are in Edinburgh, but The Shore, along the Leith, is good for a stroll with plenty of bars and restaurants

Somewhere over there

Jumping on OP's post;

As we're going through next week (kept booking for hotel even though social cancelled) these are great ideas for places to go, so thanks for the suggestions!

We're spending the day out, but i'll see what Ian thinks about going out in evening as well.

Didn't know about deposits for bars so that's good to know.

Been here in Edinburgh for a few nights. Not sure if it is always this quiet or, if as a city, it is naturally a lot more relaxed than say London? Anyways following what people have said about booking places. I would honestly recommend booking a week or so in advance too! I turned up not thinking about it and honestly hard to find a table in most places.

We are in Edinburgh this weekend so really need to get on with booking some places. It's not quite the same when you have to plan where to go.
