Personally I like Nikon but as someone has already stated, the lenses are what gives results, don't be tempted to get a kit with a couple of lenses because they will sometimes throw cheap crap lenses in. It's worthwhile getting a good all-rounder lens and then invest in specialist lenses like macro or telephoto depending on what you will be taking pics of |

I'm a semi pro photographer and my main camera is a Canon 1DX Mk2 However the glass in front of the lens is often more important than the camera body you use, Oh and don't just upgrade because you want too or because someone told you. A camera is just a tool it's how you use it that matters. Feel free to drop me a message if I can offer any help. |

Also semi-pro and I agree with Kink above. It's much more important to get decent lenses and much of the decision will depend on the pics you intend to take. Portraits, indoor or outdoor, landscapes and so on? Again happy to help. Get in touch. |

"I have been looking at the Sony mirrorless cameras either the A6600 or the full frame A7 IV. Both have a good choice of glass "
Of those two I’d go with the A6600 cause I prefer the more compact profile of it. I had the A6000 which I adored. Looking to get the A6500 within the next couple months. I imagine the A7 IV will get you better results and has a better lens selection, but don’t think you can go wrong with either. |

Big fan of the Sony mirrorless A7. I had a second generation but after the iPhone 11 Pro came out I sold it as I just was not shooting enough. Best camera is the one you have with you and with the three lenses and advancements in low light, etc. decided to just alway have the best phone I can afford. |

All depends on budget which was you go and happy to discuss options. Im a canon guy as started with them and just stayed with them.
I run 2x 1dx mk2 and a 5d mk4 with a wide variety of glass. My favourite being the 135mm f2 |

Consider the Nikon Z50. With the FTZ adapter it gives access to a huge used market of Nikon lenses plus the 2 ‘kit’ lenses you can buy with it, the 50-250 and the 16-50 are stunning for their class and make for an amazingly compact set up.
I had one for a short while but couldn’t justify keeping it as I’ve a Z7. |

Less of an issue these days. There are many decent kit lenses now and can be a great place
to start and only upgrade when those lenses can’t do what you need, all part of learning. |

I've just bought a couple of second hand DSLR and lenses from MBP. They were exactly as described, good price with warranty and free returns.
I'm invested in Pentax mount lenses already, so I bought new body.
My eldest is taking up photography, so he started with a full Nikon outfit, as that's what friends and uni have.
There is a lot of 'marketing says much better' in photography. Don't get suckered in. Buy a decent body and lenses.
My best lens is 40 years old, manual and was £12... |

Yeah love my Nikon. Being able to change lenses for the right situation as well as sorting out the aperture and setting manually is key. Suggest getting a second hand from ebay (from a well reviewed seller) and YouTube tutorials are actually great for beginners. Great hobby! |

I personally been using cannon. They are fantastic. But the problem is once you buy into a system it’s hard to swap without loosing money.
I have seen excellent photos taken my Nikon and Maybe the colour is slightly better.
But as has been said before, the real magic happens with a good lens. I love my manual focus Zeiss 75mm and 50mm.
You can I think rent a camera for a few days from some specialist camera shops. I would suggest doing that and then investing in what suits you best
Good luck and happy photographing!!
Ps some great photographer once said, his first 10,000 images were crap! Only after that you start understanding composition and other finer technicalities so don’t worry keep shooting |
