Question. Can you pitch a tent on your favourite beach? (obviously being careful as to where so you don't end up in the water)

I've always fancied a night on the beach

Scotland has the most lenient laws in regards to access rights compared to England, Wales & NI

Skye is currently full of 'wild' campers. Leaving all their rubbish behind, in some cases leaving the tent.

Bbqs and bags of rubbish and bottles, shit and toilet paper strewn everywhere, it's disgusting. It's way worse than it had ever been previously.

you sure can, just have to use rocks instead of pegs or splash out for screw type pegs for going into sand!

It's all over the place at the moment.

Apparently 'wild' camping is actually dirty camping next to a road.

If you want fabulous wild camping sites, get a map! Get walking...

One of my favourite camps was the beach at South end of Loch Ericht, another on summit of Cairngorm, many more on river banks and Islands while canoeing, but he best one with flat tent site, waterfall into swimming hole and a view the length of a loch I'm keeping to myself so the dirty campers don't use it.

You now need a licence to camp around Loch Lomond - I'm anticipating more of these camping permit zones being introduced if folks don't start behaving properly regarding rubbish and damage. This could end up as the end of right to roam which would be a real shame.

It's one thing I'm looking forward to getting out to do.

'Dirty' camped in cairngorms (side of road, not rubbish)last year, got told off by rangers when packing up despite leaving no trace other than flatten grass.

I don't get why folk don't clean up their mess, just why?

I think wild camping is still 'banned' under covid guidance in Scotland anyway. These stupid litter bugs will end up meaning the end of wild camping.

Then there's the question why is everyone punished & not just the twats. So annoying

Possibly because, to avoid causing problems for local people and land managers by not camping in enclosed fields of crops or farm animals and by keeping WELL AWAY from buildings, ROADS or historic structures.

Have fun guys but please lead by example and remember to take your rubbish home with you As there are a lot of campers in the Fortwilliam Who haven’t been.

Enjoy the outdoors xx
