"Not really.
I think women an couples would get more use from it. "
Maybe so as they receive far more mail but since they are there to use for all site supporters, why not?
I’ve used them since I noticed them available a long time ago and think they’re a good source , regardless of what you use them for |

"Only for names. Not because I speak to hundreds of people. I'm just really shite with names
L x"
Hadn’t used them before but that’s such an obvious use for them. Nothing worse when you can’t for the live of you think what someone’s name is |

They are only as good as you update them. That old site mantra, you only get back what you put in. Members change usernames frequently. You may only remember their initial username as they may have had it for some time. If they come back under another or create a singles profile as something else then it’s really handy. That’s my diplomatic answer |

"Nope, if I want to remember anything it's usually through saved messages "
You’d have to have discussed this within a message to said person though. Where as private notes are for the benefit of private thoughts or notes that you haven’t discussed with others? If that makes sense? |

All the time.
I don’t like to block right away so will use it if there has been undertones of something.
Names
If they’ve messaged before
If I’ve seen something I’ve not liked on their status or forum (racist or sexist comments usually)
I find them handy. Often if during messaging, something has turned me off, I’ll note why |

"Nope, if I want to remember anything it's usually through saved messages Thus not necessarily making it not private surely? "
How is saving a message making it "not private"?
Only I get to see/ keep the contents of a message, unless the other recipient keeps it also
If I'm not interacting with someone, then I don't see the need for a message.
If I have blocked someone, there's usually a good reason for it, and not necessary to make a note |

"Tip for the wise. Don’t be ambiguous. I saw a nice profile the other day and spotted a note. It just said “why?” Well. I have no idea why. "
That'll probably be the all too frequent reply 'why?" after you've politely declined. I have "why" in my notes as well |

"Site Supporters, Do You Use the Notes Facility? "
Yes I do. Their name and anything that s_ands out about them. This information in the messages tends to eventually move off once you go beyond a certain amount of messages exchanged. |
